VP Candidate Palin: Corruption Addicted To OPM

Published by at 11:09 pm under All General Discussions

Sarah Palin did very well tonight in the Sean Hannity interview (and the bitter liberal response hosted by sour puss Alan Colmes was a disaster). My absolutely most favorite line was when Sarah said too many people are “addicted to OPM: Other People’s Money”.

In one catch all phrase she distilled down the anger and frustration America has with both Wall Street and Washington (and by extension the broader Political Industrial Community of media, political consultants, lobbyists and politicians).

The current economic shocks coming from mismanagement at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (which the Bush administration and Senator McCain raised alarm bells over YEARS ago) is a result of greedy people playing lose and reckless with OPM.

The problems we all see in DC’s dysfunction while we shell out a third or more of our income in taxes is people playing loose and reckless with OPM.

What we see with naive and juvenile liberal policies that sound like a bad Disney Movie plot (just give the poor money and they will thrive) is endless silly plans to play loose and reckless with OPM.

If democrats were honest about how Obama has squandered the incredible head wind against the GOP, the fawning press and the record breaking donations to his campaign to be running now behind Al Gore and John Kerry at this stage in their campaigns, they would see someone playing loose and reckless with OPM. In this case it was THEIR money – but the pattern is clear.

McCain-Palin: they promise to protect and seriously invest OPM!

Now that is a sign of a poitically incredibly gifted person on par with John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

OPM! Brings back memories of the late ’70s and the leveraged leasing company named OPM Leasing — which scammed the financial community by fraudulently hocking collateral to several financial institutions at once, and fraudulently pledging ‘collateral’ that didn’t exist. It was a big bankruptcy back in the day that caught many banks and investment banks in the lurch.

But, indeed, OPM is the root of the problem…. the investment banks and commercial banks have been busy highly leveraging everything — meaning they were working with Other People’s Money by taking profits on the ups while everyone else took the underlying risk – mostly unknowingly.

Doesn’t matter. McCain is finished as of today.

  3. crosspatch says:

McCain, finished? In what way? Seriously, are you just talking wishful thinking or do you have some reason to believe that?

McCain tried in 2005 to reform these financial institutions and Bush tried in 2003. The Democrats not only blocked it but are the main recipients of cash from those companies.

I agree with djs. McCain is finished as a US Senator, He WILL be the next President of the United States!!!

    Wishful? It’s a disaster.

“McCain tried in 2005 to reform these financial institutions and Bush tried in 2003. The Democrats not only blocked it but are the main recipients of cash from those companies.”

Try putting that on a bumper sticker.

djs. Welcome to the board. This is a place where saying something doesn’t make it so. For instance, blaming every woe on “the failed policies of the Bush Administration” or simply saying that “Palin is unqualified” doesn’t make it so, no matter how many times you’ve heard “the one” say it. Please share your opinions with us, but have some fact or trend or idea that might support your statement that McCain is finished.

What I see is a media who has sold its soul to elect an empty suit socialist with a messiah complex who has benefited from the financial support of the failed Fannie Mae/Mac orgs and who is currently being advised by men who made a killing bankrupting those 2 agencies. McCain, however, proposed reform to these agencies 3 years ago which was thwarted by Dems.

Palin is proving her qualifications while enduring the most vicious, unseemly, and now felonious attacks against her and her family. Middle America is repulsed by the View gals, Oprah, US Weekly, Charlie Gibson, and the Main Stream Media’s fawning over Obama and all-out assault on Palin.

Calling McCain dishonorable while mocking Palin’s Christianity, stand for life, support of her pregnant daughter, and her small town roots doesn’t sell. Belittling McCain for his age and his inability to use a computer due to his war wounds shrinks Obama’s support. Mocking us bitter hicks for clinging to guns and God has taken the South out of play and put PA back in.

The bottom line is you are supporting a guy who sought to slow the move toward victory in Iraq through back channels and has taken far too much pleasure in the economic turbulence of the moment, and America will reject a man such as this plain and simple.

Oh, so elections are won by bumper stickers?

One thing I like about both McCain and Palin are that they aren’t afraid of going against the “good old boy” network of the Republican Party. It is really funny how the Democrats were all so in love with McCain while he was critical of his party but now that he is running, they are trying to portray him as another Bush. He has been a thorn in Bush’s side for a long time.

It just shows how shallow the left is in their convictions. In fact, the only conviction they have is win elections at all cost, even if it means reversing themselves on what they might have said last week, or last month, or last year. The left in this country is completely bankrupt of any integrity at all.

Obama: Can I just finish my waffle?

There’s something you can put on a bumper sticker.

    AJ,

Did you notice the time delay between the time Hannity asked his question and the time Gov. Palin started her answer? There was NO delay! She was jumping on the question before he finished.

Next, did you notice the number of words per minute of her answer? It was rapid fire with no hesitation, no umm’s, no uhh’s and no teleprompter!

This woman is good. Obama should watch out.

Uh-huh. So, djs — how does this make McCain “finished” (as opposed to “even more credible on the whole reform thing”)?
