The Liberal Crowd Still Self Destructing On Palin – But Recognizing Her Strengths

Is Palin from small town America? Yes. Is she uneducated, blind to the larger world around her, unable to handle the give and take of politics? No. The jury is coming to a conclusion on Sarah Palin, but from what I can see from all those feathers she ‘ruffled’ in Alaska (e.g., the PSEA union and sundry political foes behind Troopergate) she keeps plucking her political enemies, staying ahead of their attempts to bring her down.

And the reason is her enemies represent what Americans are fed up with when they say, by 80%, this country is on the wrong track.  They are NOT saying winning in Iraq is wrong, they say the partisan hype is wrong and we should be standing together to finish this (which is why the US Congress has approval rating even lower than the ‘direction of the country’).

The funny thing is the liberal left (from pols to pundits to news media) is the one taking the beating in their anti-Palin fever. Reader Trent Telenko noted the SNL skit last night, and how it revolved around rumors of incest inside the Palin family. Now if you leave it at that, the SNL skit is as down in the sewer as they come. And in fact, one wonders why the obsession with sick sexual fantasies out of NY CIty and Hollywood? There seem to be some personal issues to be resolved here.

But I am wondering if this was a slam against Palin, or a slam against the liberal news media:

the NBC comedyshow returned to making fun of the Alaskangovernor in a skit where New York Times reporters sought to probe the possibility Palin’s husband was having sex with the couple’s own daughters.

“What about the husband?” asked a Times reporter during a mock assignment meeting for the paper. “You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska.”

The assignment editor for the Times, portrayed by actor James Franco, responded: “He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Governor Palin.”

Yeah, pretty sick images there. But note this is a portrayal of the warp minds from the New York Times, which followed a lot of once credible new media organizations into the sewer with the sick minds that inhabit the KosKids. Watch where the message goes from there:

The skit featured a photo of one reporter and an on-screen message that stated, “In 2009 [reporter] Howland Gwathmey Moss, V was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his Times series on unproven, yet un-disproven incest in the Palin family. Sadly, he was to die 3 months later, run over by a snow machine, driven by a polar bear.”

The final shot showed an image of a New York Times page, with headlines that included:

“While No Direct Evidence of Incest in Palin Family Emerges, Counter Evidence Remains Agonizingly Elusive” and “In a Small Alaska Town, Doubts Still Linger.”

The reason this may not work is the killing of the bear – too much ‘Deliverance‘ there. But there is a good smack down on the media with their stupid efforts to claim something is untrue because there is not a shred of evidence against it. There is not a shred of evidence available now that I went skiing when I was 17 (true), and there is not a shred of evidence that I trained in Pakistan when I was 17. That is not news or proof, it is fantasizing.

I have noticed many slaps at Palin are backfiring. Congressman Rangel called Palin “disabled” – clearly making a connection to her newborn son Trig. Rangel claims he did not mean to make the connection, but I am not buying it. The guy has had a sharp tongue for years, he simply overstepped and is now paying a price. Being a Class A tax dodger (while running the committee on taxation) one wonders why the man is still in DC – but that is what Dems do, they protect themselves over what is good for America.

And even the UK liberals are getting into the act, though again I think they recognize something is happening that they have seen once before, with Lady Thatcher:

Speaking at a fringe meeting of the centre-left party during its annual party conference in Manchester, Blears said Palin was capitalising on people’s disillusionment with regular politics.

“I just think there is so much anti-politics — not just in this country but around the world,” Blears said.

“One of the reasons why Sarah Palin has been such a phenomenon is because she’s anti-politics, anti-Washington.

“Her politics are horrendous, but actually she’s struck a chord with people — ‘I’m a maverick, I’m not part of those powerful people’ — and people identified with that.”

The reason the masses are rising up in protest is the politics is broken and we don’t like what we see. If she thinks Palin’s politics are horrendous then she doesn’t understand how horrendous the whole resulting mess she and others have produced look.  When your plan is broken, it doesn’t work to criticize others who have shown their plans are working.

What is happening is Palin is moving this race into a dynamic never before seen in this country – which seems to be why the pols are having so many problems coming up with a coherent picture on the race. But let me show two polls of interest. First is a poll from Missouri which indicates what has happened with this race since the conventions:

Among the 800 likely Missouri voters polled last week, 49 percent favored McCain compared to 45 percent for Obama. The remaining 6 percent were undecided, or split between the three minor-party tickets on the ballot.

A similar Research 2000 poll conducted in July showed Obama ahead in Missouri, 48 percent to 43 percent.

That is a 9 point swing in a bellweather state. If you read the reporting all this is ‘minor’. Well, some feel the need to deny what is happening. And the internals explain a lot:

McCain improved his standing among fellow Republicans as well as independents.

In the July poll, 81 percent of Republicans supported McCain. Now that figure is 88 percent. Independents polled in July leaned toward Obama. This time, they leaned toward McCain. [ajstrata: must be bad, no actual numbers provided]

As a bloc, the women polled lean slightly toward Obama — but their preference is dramatically below the double-digit lead that Obama had among Missouri women voters polled in July.

[ajstrata: again, no actual numbers provided]

I would say there is a strong attraction across major groups to McCain-Palin. The only ‘hate’ and ‘anger’ are coming from the liberal elites who see their hold on power threatened by one of the ‘commoners’. Interestingly enough, the hate of Obama’s race seems to be entrenched in the liberal white community:

Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obamathe White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks—many calling them “lazy,” “violent” or responsible for their own troubles.

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents—voters Obama can’t win the White House without—agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.

Personally I find this poll to be over the top. To believe the black community is responsible for much of what ails it is not racists, and could be seen as compassionate. Hard love means facing facts. And the fact is the African American family is broken with sky rocketing numbers of fathers walking out on the kids. In a country were two incomes are needed to stay alfoat and get ahead, that brings poverty into the black households at staggering rates. The anti-education meme of the culture destroys the chances of young African Americans to live the American dream. And blaming racism for all these bad choices is just a form of denial.

This kind of hard assessment has nothing to do with race – it is the culture of the black community that was pushed by the aging civil rights leaders who couldn’t let go of the past. This mindset has filtered into many white brains – proving beyond doubt this is not a problem of race but of human judgement.

Anyway, it seem the hate seethes on the left, not the right.  To the point some are calling for the overthrow of our political process:

In 2000, the long fought for and long admired democracy of the United States of America began a slow and steady decline toward fascism - a Bush family tradition – with the installment of a president – a man the citizens overwhelmingly rejected (although the funny math told a still believed myth) – by a few corrupt judges on the US Supreme Court. That coup is now nearly complete and checkmate is all but unavoidable.

As I see it now, we have but two options and I have long alluded to hoping against hope that one of these options would not be the only one left to a peaceful people. The first and frankly most preferable option is for  Congress to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against the members of this latest Business Plot.

No time needs to be wasted on hearings as we already now have in writing, formally as presented to Congress, the intentions of this administration to nullify Congressional powers permanently, to alter Judicial powers permanently, and to openly steal public funds using as blackmail the total collapse of the US economy if these powers are not handed over. You do see how this is blackmail, do you not? You do see how this is a manufactured crisis precisely designed to be used as blackmail, do you not?

The other option, the one I have long prayed we would never need to even consider, is a total revolution. But, If Congress won’t act in its own self-defense, in the defense of democracy, in defense of us – the people who have elected them to protect us from this very danger – then what is left for us to do? I don’t want to see it come down to this, but I fear that it will. Put your party politics aside right now. We are in a crisis so dangerous that should these people succeed in their coup, your party affiliation will no longer matter, your American flag will be a nice collectible item of something that once was, and your version of God will be worshiped in secrecy because your freedoms will be owned by the few.

(H/T Protein Wisdom).  This is laughable. The writer asks us to forget partisanship as she wallows in a partisan fantasy world. And due to her over active imagination she calls threatens this country to impeach her political enemies or else there will be a taking up of arms. Maybe she should have threatened to hold her breathe until she got what she wanted, at least that way she would have avoided the huge mistake of becoming treasonous.

Is this what the left is going to go with? Defeat the GOP or there will be race wars? Defeat the GOP or there will armed revolution? I am waiting for al-Qaeda to proclaim ‘defeat the GOP or there will be murderous attacks upon your people”.

I think America sees what is going on, where that hate is coming from, and will respond accordingly in November. No more divisive partisanship. Definitely no armed revolution.

Why didn’t those pollsters find views from: whites on whites, blacks on whites and blacks on blacks?

I guess because it’s only “politically correct” to write about how awful white people are.

Some of the opinions of whites in that survey do sicken me though there is no context and the questions are WAY too vague. My answers put me well out of range of the norms of any party.

    AJ;

I don’t think the pols really understand what is going on with Sarah Palin. She appeals to a lot more Americans than Obama which the pols don’t reflect. Here is a pretty good article from the DailyMail UK that points out a few things about what Americans see in Palin and the differences (the title is not the best). A few lines:

“In Palin they see optimism; in Obama cynicism. In Palin they see pride in her country; in Obama an element of shame. ”

“She has stood up for ordinary people and taken on the Washington establishment.”

“There is a growing sense that Obama and his wife, Michelle, are secretly condescending to ordinary folk, contemptuous of their smalltown ambitions and narrow horizons.”

“But there’s a certain smugness about them, a superiority that alienates ordinary voters. ”

“In particular, Michelle’s comment that seeing her husband elected presidential candidate was the first time she had been proud to be an American has been neither forgiven nor forgotten.”

Gallup has Obama at 50 percent and McCain at 44 percent.

But then I see that Palin is compared to Princess Di.

I didn’t see SNL but it seems to acknowledge media bias while it paints a picture of redneck sickos.

I have had ‘images’ on my mind this week because MSM has reached into their bag of tricks and declared Palin INVISIBLE. She has disappeared into The Silence. Void. She will only be brought out to star in sick skits or troubled, corrupt headlines.

What do you remember about Katrina? The images running 24/7 on TV. Abu Ghraib? NYT and WaPo thought enough of the pictures, that they kept them up on their front pages, forever. CIA Plane’s face. Explosions, bodies=Bad war. Ike? Only a million people still out of electricity, but Katrina is The Only Hurricane to date.

The war and Ike are in the same place as Palin. Somebody better figure how to get her released. This is child’s play for the MSM. The image of Sarah did not match what they were saying about her, so they make her invisible. Bam.

The LEFT is going to try a revolt? Good joke. It’s the conservatives and libertarians who have the guns, know how to use them…and have members who would privately be delighted with a trial of strength.

SNL jumped the shark about 20 years ago and is a good litmus test for whether you are a liberal loser living in the past. The show has neither been funny nor relevant and has not showcased a decent musical act since the Blues Brothers skits. It does serve the MSM hipness message as all those dotering old hippies are just desperate for attention and this may well be their last gasp.
