Why America May Be Tuning Out UNTIL Election Day

Published by at 1:00 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

As folks may know LJStrata and DJStrata have been out campaigning for McCain-Palin. One thing is striking, how vile and crude the far left is. They have had bitter old men (ex-hippies I guess) try and rip up their signs (thankfully the old coots don’t have enough strength to tear cardboard). They have had a lot of things yelled at them. It is a vocal but small minority.

And then there is everyone else, who look aghast at the 3rd graders now entering their retirement years. They are visibly, but quietly, repulsed. They grab for information and walk away from the scene. You can see this in full force in the following video where McCain-Palin supporters simply express their support in the middle of liberal madness in NY City:

“>H/T Jawa Repor
t. This is not America folks, this is fascism. This is not America as the shining city on the Hill. We used to be able to respect differences of opinion, now we mock them. I can start to see how Jews felt in pre-WWII Germany when the bitter and angry Nazis took over.

The last time I saw a surprise bump in the polls for Obama was when the Olympics where on, and it was interesting to realize it was probably due to a sampling anomoly. There is no doubt the far left is rabid about this election, and therefore they are most likely to be heard – both physically and in poll samples. They are obsessed. They are also about 20% of the population.

When the nation turned its attention to the Olympics Obama’s poll numbers rose as the rabid left sustained its obsession and the rest of the country put its attention elsewhere. When the Olympics where over and attention turned back to politics, Obama tanked.

The question one has right now is whether Obama is rising, or whether Americans, sick of the bile and anger and hate from the far left, are tuning out until election day. Watching the hate rise on the left I could make the case for the latter, that polls are now dominated by the angry left and the moderates have been repulsed and made their decision, and are just staying away until the get in the voting booth.

This sounds too good to be true, so I would have to mark it down to my own optimism. But I have been saying for a year now hyper partisanship will turn off the moderate middle and send the election to the other camp. I still think this is the case, but there is no way to prove it until after the polls close.

I hope your right. I have never been as worried about the future of this country as I am right now. Those people scare the you know what out of me.

This behavior is William Ayers 101. To the Obama supporters this is not an election, it’s a revolution. It is going to get more ugly.

I believe you’re thinking in the right direction, AJ. I only watched about 30 minutes of the debate (I did record it) but even after 20 minutes I could see a clear difference. Even a completely fabricated October surprise could not change this election as the contrast of ‘characters’ is so stark. I predict a 43-44 state landslide (although, My original was 44-45 state). We will all be called racists (immediately, but temporarily), the media will throw tantrums and hissy fits (which actually may be quite entertaining), and the country will move forward. The biggest benefit I believe this election will produce, is that the current MSM will either have to completely reform, or actually advertise that they are partisan, NOT objective. THAT alone would be a step in the right direction… Cheers!

  4. Aitch748 says:

Your theory certainly sounds plausible, AJ. I can’t imagine that the average person really has much of an appetite for the endless unresolvable screaming and yelling that pervades politics these days.

  5. MerlinOS2 says:

A lot of it depends on residual energy after this long war campaign.

First the dems had their inter party civil war and now they have the nutroots mainly turning to focus on us.

The had to dig into their kick it up a notch real early and double down when Palin was picked and they turned loose the dogs of all shades.

Now it seems their ‘progressive caucus’ might be getting their hat handed to them as provision after provision is removed from the bail out bill.

Do they have enough depth to double down again or will they crash and burn from the frustration?

Eight years of continuous hate is a hard thing to keep up.

  6. kathie says:

If the Republicans do not stand up and tell the truth about who is responsible for this problem and the role that congress had then Berry will win. I’m listening to Pelosi tell one lie after another. I’m totally disgusted with politicians.

  7. ivehadit says:

I had a brief respite from it all last night when I got to watch my team whip up on Georgia. Roll Tide!

I’d like to send this video to all terrorists around the world and especially the ones that inhabit the 0 campaign:

College football is one of THE BESTS of America.

Rammer Jammer, Yellow Hammer, give ’em hell, Alabama! …and John McCain!

  8. Redteam says:

I think the prediction of a landslide may be true, but mostly I hope it is true. I’ve been pretty active in the situation, but I, as many, have begun to tune out the shrillness of the left as much as I can.
At one time, I even thought David Letterman was a little but funny, but since he has totally gone off the deep end politically, I turn the channel if I even see his face. It is totally obnoxious. So I no longer really even care about the argument, there is no way in hell I would vote for any democrat under any condition. So let them shout and stick their middle finger up you know where, it doesn’t matter I’m gonna vote Repub and to hell with all of them.

  9. owl says:

NO…..Hell NO….absolutely NO. Let the sucker go down.

Now that my temper tantrum is expressed, I will say that I am listening to the press conference by Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Franks.

I suggest that after listening to these LIES, that every single Pug in both houses should vote HELL NO. That includes McCain.

Unless these SPINELESS REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS do not come out on the steps as a group and point their finger at Dodd, Obama and Franks, I say HELL NO. Sorry Mr President. They have just pointed all the fingers at you anyway. Now it is all Pug fault anyway. That is coming out of the mouth of FRANKS. Where are the Republicans that we elect? I do not want McCain to hold hands with these creeps. HELL NO.

Republicans do not protest. They do not riot. They calmly go about trying to make sense of the messes. They use to be the silent majority. They look at the idiot Code Pinks and think ‘what stupid fools’.

Folks, it is a new world. They have convinced half this country that the ‘government’ did 9/11. They get in the faces of the recruiters and WE DO NOTHING because we are peaceful and think they are acting like idiots. Newsflash: Those thugs out there protesting have WON. Meanwhile, we are so dignified, we sit on our hands. If I was close enough, I would sock Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Franks in the mouth and let them lock me up with Code Pink.

I believe the polls. It is what I have been seeing. What I am watching on TV is the reason. They have erased Palin, put her into a box and she is now the twit that can’t spell ‘potato’. Republicans either point it in their faces and name NAMES now, or forget it. Last chance because when they have all 3 power seats, they will strip away all future possibilities.

McCain needs to come out and give a very important news conference that equals this farce. He HAS to explain Franks and Dodd, or kiss it goodbye. Hey McCain, now is the time to name NAMES like you promised because you ain’t getting another shot.

  10. owl says:

Watching Lindsay Graham saying that Pugs need to hold Dem hands on this and let the people see it. Good Lord help us all.

Has anyone ever looked at this picture of Pelosi, Reid, Franks and Dodd and wondered why they were running around like chickens without heads. Pelosi said the Republicans were unpatriotic by not coming to the table.

Have you ever seen anything that Pelosi wanted that was good for you? Anything?

  11. ivehadit says:

Owl, the democrats could have passed this bill yesterday if they wanted to be the only ones voting for it. There is a reason they want the republicans on it.

Now that being said, they also do not want to be the ones who *did not* vote because in blocking a bill, they would bring on a worldwide depression. And they want to blame the republicans for that.

It is a fine needle our guys have to thread today. They do not have the majority and yet they are able to have some say because the democrats know that 9 to 1, Independents DO NOT WANT THE DEM BILL.

Our guys have been able to get ACORN OUT of the deal. That’s a big plus!

  12. Mike M. says:

AJ, I hope you’re right. Certainly I can’t stand the constant lies of the radical Left any longer.

The good news is that some sort of a deal WILL go through…and get the matter off the front page. Which is a Good Thing for John McCain. I’m convinced that the economic crisis is helping Obama a lot.

And everybody should cheer up. I’ve seen a fair amount of panicked pessimism today on a number of blogs. I suspect because of the responses to the debate…which serious analysts handed to McCain, but polls indicate Obama came out ahead on. If you trust the polls.

Well, there are more than five weeks to go…and even Gallup specifically mentioned the volatility of their poll – clearly, they doubt the lead will hold.

This election is quite winnable. Were this 28 October, I would be worried and depressed. Today? Rather less so.

  13. kathie says:

I just read that Hugo Chavez is going to start a peaceful nuclear program. I wondered why he took over all the cement plants. So now we have Iran and Russia in Venezuela. All our good friends. Obama will only have to go South to visit all the guys. Save on cap and trade.

  14. sjreidhead says:

I do hope you are right. I’ve wondered about the sampling, and have waxed poetic about it several times at The Pink Flamingo.

I think one of the worst mistakes the McCain Campaign made was agreeing to do the debate on Friday night in September, the night of high school football. Yesterday and today in church, I found very few people who watched the debate – they were at the football game. ALL were voting for McCain.

There’s where perception is the problem. The MSM lies for Obama to push their agenda on the people who did not see the debate.

The other problem is the fact that we are political junkies. Face it, we’re hooked. The other day this grown blogger was read the riot act by one very irate mother who was sick and tired of hearing politics. After considering the fact that she’s the one who pushed me into this stuff when I was a kid, I must be over the top. Family wrath has won and I am no longer allowed to talk politics in public – or in private (unless all parties agree). I was told that’s all I discuss. So, I am attempting my own private intervention.

We watch every minute – every thing that goes on. We look at every blip in the polls. We’re making ourselves and everyone around us sick. Will I stop – of course not.

I’m seeing a movement of 18 year old + and college age girls from Obama to Palin. They are furious over the way she is being treated. There is a simmering gender war brewing out in the ‘boondocks’ of fly-over country. Obama started it. I still think there are any number of women who are going to vote for Palin simply because ‘they’ve had it’.

Does anyone really think we will get a fair election what with all the ACORN voter registration fraud that has taken place? . And it was all done on our money. ACORN is not the only seditious organization that is feeding at the public trough. From sources inside the dissident movement I have heard that many of those rabid far left orgs. have perpetual funding built into different agency budgets. I want someone to tell us who was responsible for adding $600 million for ACORN in the bail out bill. They were just given $700 million in the last housing bill which they are using to get Obama elected. . Just because they claim to be housing advocates for the poor does not mean they use our money for that purpose. They are using it to screw up our voter registrations rolls and regiister dead people. I understand that in several instances they have collected and saved forms for months and dumped as many as 30,000 on one office knowing there is no way that many can be verified in 30 days. We need an asset forfiture law which will allow the govt. to seize the assetts of any 501 (c)(3) or other tax exempt org which is caught breakig the law, funding people who break the law, and/or are in any way connected to breaking the law. The assets seized should be used to pay off the national debt.

During Clinton’s term, Donna Shelala gave Louis Farakan’s Nation of Islam a $6 million HUD contract to “provide security in public housing.” She gave him another multimillion contract to provide “self esteem training” Translated that means Farakan was given money to buy arms and ammunitions to arm his New Black Panthers and the cover to recruit new members and buy their arms wholesale. Someone really needs to go thru the fed. budget and see just how much tax payer money is being spent to undermine and destroy our country.

As for Bush, Don’t expect him to defend himself. I have already decided that George must have a psychological hang up about defending himself. I dont’ think he can. People with that problem freeze up when they are attacked personally. The left has an army of people with Phds in psychology. Bush is no match for them in that dept. They use their knowledge to destroy. Bush is a builder.

  16. breschau says:

So… any explanation for the Obama support now? Any reason why your guy is polling eight points behind Obama?

Any reason why the Indepedents chose Obama over McCain? Any reason why Bible Spice has turned into a national joke? Any reason why McMaverick suspended his campaign, without suspending his campaign, and then did nothing?

    Woo – leadership! Smell it!

  17. ivehadit says:

Keep believing those polls, bresh. That sword is gonna cut.

Let’s see, where was John Kerry at this time…and Michael Dukakis….and….Al Gore….?

But then again, those guys weren’t as ruthless and dispicable as this communist alinsky group is. As a supporter, you don’t have much to be proud of, imho.

  18. When are you folks going to wake up.

These libs would just as soon as have us walk into a disintegration chamber than tolerate us.

It’s time for civl war, only we just give them first class tickets outl.

They are too stupid and egotistical to realize their shit don’t work. We all will pay their price

Now is the tiime for the proverbial benevolent Dictator.

No extreme is any good unless pure logic bring you there!

  19. Terrye says:

    breschau:

Yeah, there is an explanation. Democrats kill economy, blame Republicans, demagogue the issue and terrify people into supporting them. same old same old.

  20. Terrye says:

I have no idea who is going to win. I really don’t. Those polls have been see sawing for so long that I just kind of don’t know what to think.

As for the bill, they had to do something. Obama, the lying opportunist that he is, is out there flapping his gums about how he told us so for a year and a half…well, what did he do about it? Nothing. Not a damn. Unless you include talking and yakking doing something.

McCain has a solid record of trying to pass legislation that would curb risky loans. Not Obama, he was all for risky loans. And there he is yammering about how all this is because of a lack of regulations. He is a liar.

That was what struck me about the debate, Obama’s willingness to just plain lie.

Now that he has made his point again that he would leave Saddam in power to do whatever he liked, he seems bound and determined to start a war with Pakistan.

I fail to see the logic in that. Saddam was shooting at our planes everyday in violation of a cease fire agreement and Obama did not give a damn.

As for the left, I think they are shouting down people. I do not see yard signs or bumper stickers, nor do people want to initiate a discussion on politics. They are afraid of having their cars keyed, their property vandalized…or having some raving loon in their face screaming at them.

I don’t think we can really know what the mood of most people is.

As for Pelosi’s press conference. I did what most Americans did, I refused to watch it.

BTW, the audience for the debate with Obama and McCAin was low. Most viewers were Democrats. That might have something to do with the spin after because McCain obviously won that debate.

Obama came off as rude, arrogant, uninformed and petulant.
