Crescent Of Death Over American Graves

Published by at 10:46 am under All General Discussions,Bin Laden/GWOT

UPDATE II:

One final word on this for today. We need to ignore the elitists and the fantasy world that we hear them expouse. They are simply apologists who cannot understand why this is offensive and dangerous. These elites are like Michael Jackson hiding away in his ‘Never Land” fantasy world. A place where reality rarely intrudes. Anyone naive enought to assume the symbology of our attackers residing over their victims’ graves is not only repulsive, but idiotic, is simply demonstrating the fact they too live in a fantasy ‘nirvanna land’ and cannot face reality.

I do not care whether they get it or not. I know what Al Qaeda will do with this. They will say it is a sign that fanatical Islam will win. They will say Allah placed his sign over those of the dead Americans who fought back as a symbol of victory. They will use it to rally the forces of Jihad. They will use this as a rallying point against us.

They will take a memorial that was supposed to honor our dead heroes and use it in such a manner that it will mean we probably will have many more memorials to build in the future.

Forget the elitist idiots. Let’s not allow our dead to become a symbol of our mortal enemies.

UPDATE IV:

The Commissar has a great round up of the outrage here.

UPDATE:

Well, this getting the attention it deserves. Anyone who did not see the connection between the religion that was the force behind the attacks of 9-11 and the symbology used for the memorial is just not worthy of the responsibilty to decide how to memorialize the first battle where average Americans fought back against the bloody red crescent of islamo fascism.

I have no problems with Islam in general. I am not personally very religious but I am spiritual and I understand people of faith. But the crescent that represents Bin Laden’s brand of Islam is red with the blood of infidels. This is not something you need to imagine or speculate about – it is how Al Qaeda see themselves.

Michelle Malkin has links to some of the lamest excuses for this fiasco – each demonstrating a new level of ignorance or condescending arrogance. Take your pick. But the people doing the selecting and the people proposing the designs need to be replaced.

Ed Morrissey also has more outrage in this post, where he likens this to a rising sun over the ocean as a memorial to Pearl Harbor.

I have a better one. Why not a swastika shape over every grave of someone killed in German concentration camps?

If the immediate reaction in everyone’s mind is to think of the terrorist who killed these people then the memorial idea is fatally flawed. The immediate reaction should be an image of brave American’s fighting to save others on the ground. The first and last impression should be something like the phrase ‘Let’s roll!’, which is a clarion call to make the ultimate sacrifice in the face of certain death.

It should not be a rallying image for the blood thirsty islamic fanatics who want us all dead.

END UPDATE

In what has to be the most ignorant and unfeeling act of ‘art’ ever produced in this country, the proposed memorial for flight 93 in Pennsylvania has the symbol of the attackers laying over top the graves of American heroes. The people whose remains were pulverized into the earth here were the first Americans to fight back against Al Qaeda in this Global War on Terror. What idiotic ‘arteests’ decided to poison this hallowed ground with the symbol of the people who killed 3,000 Americans on 9-11?

If there is any doubt this not what it seems, the name of this outrage is “Crescent of Embrace”. Embrace? Was that the embrace of death?

I call it one of the dumbest things ever conceived that will never be built. Hat Tip Ed Morrissey (and through him Michelle Malkin)

Must be the same “Groups” responsible for the 9/11 Memorial…. You know, “compassionate” Americans who do not want to promote ill will towards are enemies.

  3. Crescent of Embrace

In light of the Islamic nations’ and terrorist organizations’ flags shown below, I really am having trouble understanding the selection committee’s thinking.

  4. Flight 93 Crescent Memorial

The proposed design for a memorial to Flight 93 in Shanksville is a “Crescent of Embrace,” formed by Red Maple trees around the impact site.

Features my own idea for a flight 93 memorial.

What is next, are they going to name whatever memorial is erected in New York “The Osama Bin Laden Memorial Towers?” How about renaming existing memorials to show how we are reaching out to our enemie…

  6. […] Michelle Malkin asks in this update post whether if people watched the excellent Discovery Channel’s special Flight 93: The Flight That Fought Back and how they felt about the Flight 93 Memorial. In answer I submit this post which pulls out a comment I had on the Flight 93 Memorial earlier to emphasize the obvious: I know what Al Qaeda will do with this. They will say it is a sign that fanatical Islam will win. They will say Allah placed his sign over those of the dead Americans who fought back as a symbol of victory. They will use it to rally the forces of Jihad. They will use this as a rallying point against us. […]
