Obama Tried To Stop Victory In Iraq For Political Gain

Published by at 4:22 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions,Iraq

McCain wants to change DC, Obama wants to change America!

While the global financial markets melt down, some incredible is transpiring in Iraq, the walls of division are literally coming down!

Market by market, square by square, the walls are beginning to come down. The miles of hulking blast walls, ugly but effective, were installed as a central feature of the surge of American troops to stop neighbors from killing one another.

“They protected against car bombs and drive-by attacks,” said Adnan, 39, a vegetable seller in the once violent neighborhood of Dora, who argues that the walls now block the markets and the commerce that Baghdad needs to thrive. “Now it is safe.”

The slow dismantling of the concrete walls is the most visible sign of a fundamental change here in the Iraqi capital. The American surge strategy, which increased the number of United States troops and contributed to stability here, is drawing to a close. And a transition is under way to the almost inevitable American drawdown in 2009.

Emphasis mine. This is from the New York Times no less. The inevitability of the draw down is now due to the inevitability of victory in Iraq. And that inevitable victory is due to George W Bush, General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker defying the Surrendercrats in Congress and the liberal Surrender Media and pushing for success, as promoted by one John McCain. There is an incredible story at the link so definitely drop by and watch this amazing transformation.

And what did Obama do about Iraq, in addition to opposing the Surge and victory? Well, he tried to delay and stop victory from coming to Iraq so he could benefit politically:

At the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to convince Iraqi leaders in private conversations that the president shouldn’t be allowed to enact the deal without congressional approval.

See, it is all about what is best for Obama – not what is best for our troops, our national security or the war ravaged Iraqi people. This is why Obama is just not ready to be Command in Chief. The world owes President Bush a huge debt for staying dedicated to winning Iraq and defeating al-Qaeda. An al-Qaeda victory in Iraq would have led this nation into decades more of wars in the Middle East. Something Obama was willing to have happen to win votes.

McCain wants to change DC, Obama wants to change America!

Thank you Mr. President, a job well done! We are a grateful Nation. The consequences of a loss would have been unimaginable.

Out of the three page Times article, President Bush get’s a blurb:

“President Bush has accepted the military’s recommendation to remove 8,000 by February.”

That’s it, no thank you to the President, General Petraeous, etc. Being in a sceptical mood today, my thoughts are that the Times is greasing the skid for an Obama takeover no matter what happens. Obama wants us out of Iraq and more troops into Afghanistan and the Times is beginning to help him on his way, no matter what, note the closing of the article:

“His antipathy is mirrored at the highest level of the Awakening. Many of its leaders, Sunni former Baathists, remain fiercely suspicious of the Shiite-majority government and particularly the police.

“In fact, there is no trust between us and the National Police,” said Sami Hassan Saleh al-Jubori, a leader of the Awakening Council in Dora and a former general in Saddam Hussein’s military.

He offered his own warning to the government. “If the Awakening is let go, Dora will go back to worse than it was before,” he said. “I hope you don’t consider this a threat.””

Isn’t that illegal? I thought only designated representatives of the US assigned by the President could conduct negotiations with foreign powers?

  4. kathie says:

Of course it’s illegal but who would care if the President is a Republican?

  5. crosspatch says:

Of course he tried to stop victory. He wouldn’t want people thinking he was a “sellout”.

Barack is just trying to get votes, for certain… screw him for wanting to try an alternative solution to the Iraq problem that doesn’t involve thousands of PEOPLE DYING. What if other nations, (including Arab ones) respect us more for using diplomacy instead of bombs? What if European nations send more troops once a moderate, peace-minded American leader is in place. What if the president actually acts in conjunction with the military advisers, and acts on accurate intelligence with the best interest of the people in mind, regardless of political party? Where will we be then? I’m not willing to even try and find out… the current plan (2003-2008 plus surge) is by far the most thoughtful anyone could have come up with, so lets stick to our guns and stay the course!

Watching the news tonight I find two things interesting.

First they equate the “troopergate”, Palins “dishonesty” as the same as Obama’s dishonesty about Ayers, a guy in the neighborhood. I haven’t read the whole report, but they say Sarah should have stopped her husband from trying to get the guy off the force. He was trying to protect his family, Sarah told him to stop. How the two are the same is beyond me.

And secondly the talking heads, find it really bad that Republicans are so mad at town hall meetings. I think they are so angry because Republicans feel they have no voice to express their fears about a guy who might be the next President of this country. I listen to Rush, because he give voice to many of the things I would like to say. One woman today said she thought Obama was an Arab. Of course McCain shut her down. But many good people have fears that Obama is not the man that the media portray him as, and they have no place to address these concerns because MSM will not cover it, I’m sure they have heard the same stories.

This election is so strange, McCain is running away from Bush as if the whole Republican party hates Bush and he did nothing right, which I think is not true. It makes McCain case much harder to make by not acknowledging the past. He could win this election on fighting greed, example Fanny and Freddy. What Obama did. Keeping taxes low, why Obama is wrong. After all we all got a tax cut in 2003. Helping our businesses be more competitive in a world market, by lowering corporate taxes, it would create jobs at home, why Obama’s ideas won’t work. American energy for America. Finish the wars. In every case he could show why Obama is not right for this country. I think he has not focused on say 4 issues and hammered them home. He is either uninformed or just not capable of making the case for some reason. So we could get Obama, a guy who has hung out with the bad of the bad and God only knows what else. It is so pathetic it defies believability.

Was that sarcasm sometimes liberal humor escapes me? Please tell me if it was.

So why isn’t McCain hammering at this as well as Ayers, as well as ACORN, as well as Fannie and Freddie? These alone should be enough to bury the man and his ghost for good. But no.

There is so much material McCain can use to disarm and annihilate Obama as The Hollow Man, The Puppet Man, the “I Have Lots of Friends That Aren’t Worth Mentioning” Man. And yet he doesn’t, can’t, or won’t.

It’s just maddening. It’s even more maddening that we as supporters are so frustrated we’ve started bashing on our own candidate to try to wake him up. Based on his recent answers, you’d swear McCain’s been swilling the Kool-aid out of a paper bag.

It’s one thing to be respectful and gentlemanly. It’s another to hail the opponent as “decent” when you’re trying to paint him as a short-sighted neophyte who carouses with radicals and corrupt organizations and government officials.

I’m not condoning any of the things that were said by the crowd. Whether they were true supporters just frustrated like me, or plants, it’s hard to say anymore. But it does make you want to stand up and scream, “You idjit! Wake UP!”

Kid gloves are fine so long as you’re packing a crackerjack rapier wit to go with it. If you haven’t got the latter, take the gloves off and go bare-knuckle, toe-to-toe. Think Rocky. It is possible to bloody the other guy’s ego to a pulp and still emerge the gentleman, and winner.

As the days wear down, McCain’s “maverick” is looking more and more like a simple Republican with no teeth.

I really want McCain to win but he’s making it harder and harder to even give a damn anymore.

Kimberley Strassel at WSJ paints a scathing, satiric “The Emperor Has No Clothes” portrait of Obama, as well as some really pointed criticisms of McCain’s shortcomings and those of his campaign.

WHAT McCAIN NEEDS FOR HIS CAMPAIGN!!

Okay, sorry for yelling. And this is way off topic from Obama and the Iraq war. But you have to watch this.

This guy just tears a strip off Obama, then comes back and does it again, and again, and again. He’s like a one-man battering ram, and he wipes the floor with Obama’s whole “racist” schtick like it’s yesterday’s news.

McCain should also get out the Democrats who jumped ship to support him.

“Should we go with Leviticus which says slavery is okay? Or should be go with Deuteronomy which suggests stoning your child? Or should we just stick with the Sermon on the Mount, a passage that is so radical that it is doubtful our own defense department would survive it’s application?”

MORE ON WHAT McCAIN NEEDS FOR HIS CAMPAIGN

So I did a bit of checking and here’s more on the guy who did the “Barack Obama” video in my last comment.

His name is Alfonzo Rachel. He’s a musician and a proud Republican who makes no apologies for his beliefs and takes it to the Democrats and Obama like nobody’s business. If McCain could debate half as convincingly as “Zo”, we’d all be laughing in the polls, and that’s without ever mentioning Ayers, ACORN, or even Fannie & Freddie.

I’m ready to vote “Zo” after watching these!

McCain’s refusal to accept release from prisoner of war detention in North Vietnam ahead of longer-detained war prisoners was/is considered by some complete lunacy from a misplaced sense of fairness, although many, including myself think of it as heroism.
Is it possible that the same trait of McCain’s character, which led him to refuse releas from prison, could explain now his refusal to clearly expose/attack at every opportunity Obama’s connections with Wright/Rashidi/Ayers/New Party/ACORN/etc.?
I wonder how many would consider McCain’s turning the country over to Obama withou a REAL fight an act of heroism?
