Obama Picks Special Prosecutor To Investigate ACORN

Published by at 9:47 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Since when does anyone associated with a criminal act, even on the periphery, get to chose the prosecutor?

The Obama campaign announced Friday that it is asking Attorney General Michael Mukasey to turn over any investigations of voter fraud or voter suppression to Special Prosecutor Nora Dannehy.

Dannehy is also the special prosecutor recently appointed to investigate the U.S. attorney firing scandal.

Obama should not be selecting which person investigates an organization he represented, worked with, sent money to and this year was paid by his campaign. Man, that ego of Obama’s is the size of Jupiter.

CNN’s article managed to obfuscate the fact that the Obama campaign is demanding, through legal counsel, that allegations of voter fraud by ACORN be investigated as attempted voter suppression. For them it is the accusers, not ACORN, who are the criminals: alleging voter registration fraud amounts to the crimea of attempted vote suppression and denial of civil rights.

    *******
Robert Bauer, general counsel for Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, sent a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey requesting that special prosecutor Nora Dannehy add recent allegations of partisan misconduct within the Justice Department to her investigation of criminal offenses stemming from the 2006 U.S. Attorney firings.

In his letter, Bauer, a partner in Perkins Coie’s Washington office, accuses Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign and the Republican Party of making false claims of voting fraud as part of a Republican effort to influence the presidential election, Republican officeholders calling on the Justice Department to investigate allegations of fraud, and possible involvement by Justice Department officials in spurring what he called “baseless” investigations.
    ********

This request is likely to get short shrift from the Mukasey Justice Department, but it’s difficult to see Mr Bauer’s letter as anything other than a threat that those who allege voter fraud on the part of Sen. Obama’s supporters will themselves face investigation after January 20, 2009, should he be elected. Consider it a preview of what our lives will be like in an Obama Presidency.

  3. AJ,

Look at this and tell me if they have not thought about it.

The faud is massive not easily over come by a 10% adjustment like Reagan and Carter.

Now is a good time for the Atty Gen to appoint a special prosecutor other than the one that Obsama asked for. Since Obama has asked for one, why not give him a good one that can’t be fired who will dig into all the irregularities taking place almost daily. Like sending the Secret Service men to call on anyone who is rude to Obama Callers. Terrorism against McCain’s local offices. (Molotav Cocktail attacts are terrorism). Foreign Campaign Contributions, etc.

Jimmy Carter’s IRS audited everyone who stood out as a Rep. including me. I was audited 3 years in a row after I ran, and lost, as a Republican for a state office. I finally received a letter saying I could not be audited again because it was considered political harrassment if you are audited 3 times and no irregularities are found. . But I received a notice I was being audited again immediately after Clinton took office. Bush needs to get that special prosecutor on the job before it is too late. You better believe there will be one appointed to hound and harrass every single person who spoke out against the Messiah, come Jan 20.

  5. *If that stuff is all true and my gut is telling me Americans have been threatened by a foreign enemy. Illegals or not an act of war has been precipitated on this nation.

We better fight back now and forever with force if necessary or we will lose
    .

Most special prosecutors take years. Mom We don’t have years.

They are all govenment employees. Their jobs are secure.
WE ARE THEIR CHARGE , NOT.

I feel the only thing that will settle this is an armed march.
The evil runs to deep, most Americans are cowards. The bravest fight everywhere but here.

I am almost believing George kept them out of the country on purpose. I guess that makes me a tinfoil person but I hope I am wrong. Otherwise the next election will be like the movie Blood Diamond.

NO hands so you don’t have to worry about voting.

    Something for nothing.

    Mom

Have the country will say we deserve it we are anti messiah.

The other half well , 25% won a republic once we could do it again.

What I can’t figure out is: are you all simply deluded, and actually believe that ACORN is somehow responsible for massive amounts of voter fraud? Have you been that well-trained to start drooling to every freaking GOP dinner bell?

Or have you just accustomed yourselves to the fact that every two years, just before election time, these exact same issues will be raised by the exact same people, and it’s your duty to try and pass them off as illegimate?

I hope it’s the latter. Because I have a hard time imagining that this many people could actually believe that this crap is true.

But hey, if you’re going to need some kind of “It was fixed!” rallying cry/excuse to make yourselves feel better on Nov 5 — well then, carry on. Just ignore the fact that the country is going to summarily reject your political party, its corrupt leadership, its delusional beliefs, and its ignorant followers. (Besides, the way everybody’s jumping off your train, there will only be a couple dozen of you left at the end when it finally goes careening off a cliff.)

Actually I’d go two planets further out – describes him a lot better!

breschau, hearing you whine about how Republicans are trying to “delegitimize” the election because of concerns about what ACORN is doing is actually kinda funny–given how your side of the aisle behaved during 2000, 2002, and 2004.

Feel free to pretend ACORN isn’t an issue.

Just don’t cry too loudly when the GOP decides to actually return the favor–which it will inevitably do if this isn’t stopped. Because conservatives, unlike liberals, do not believe in rewarding idleness and sloth. Conservatives reward results. You’ll never know what hit you.
