America is not ready to reject Obama yet, but the Blagojevich scandal sure has set the stage for a serious erosion in support for the agent of “change”:
Twelve percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Monday say Obama aides did something illegal, with another 36 percent feeling Obama aides didn’t act illegally but did do something unethical. Forty-three percent say no Obama aides did anything seriously wrong.
In a manner normal to left-wing media, spin those numbers are quite stunning. 48% believe Team Obama did something wrong (Illegal or unethical) and 43% have made up their mind before all the information has come out.
As I noted this weekend, if Obama was pressuring Blagojevich to push his pick (Jarrett) over Blag’s preferred choice (AG Madigan) then all the horse trading discussions were meant to get Obama’s wishes granted. The quid pro quo’s were being proffered and debated to meet Obama’s requirements. The fact they continued for weeks and went into stealthy options to hide the payback through organizations like the SEIU meant Team Obama was open to these discussions.Â
Obama’s actions around this have all the signs of trying to hide something. And the American people will decide if Obama is being straight with them. Right now most are not buying what Team Obama and his media puppets are peddling. And as more details come out it may erode even more. Team Obama needs to stop parsing their words, stop hiding behind process and stop trying to sell Obama as pure as the driven snow. That tact is an insult to the intelligence of the American people and will only make things worse.
Come clean and let the chips fall were they may. This is one of those times to use the political capitol all new Presidents receive when they come into office. We can understand a little horse trading, but don’t pretend there was no horse!
