WOW! The Anchoress was invited to provide a guest column to CBS. Make sure to drop by and read it.
Miers, Miers and more Miers! Well, not today I hope. If you visit RealClearPolitics daily like I do then you probably read Voted Off the Island By Ronald A. Cass. It’s a very well and moderately written review of what is going wrong with the Miers nomination. That’s enough on Miers for now.
The big show this weekend is the vote on the Iraq constitution. I cannot explain how anxious and excited I am to see how this turns out. It will be a big pivot point forward if the constitution passes. Sunnis appear to be more willing to participate this time around and to start working towards the future instead of obsessing over the past. I think it is fair to say we all hope this goes well so we are that much closer to a stabilized Iraq. Hoping for failure is useless – because it simply means going back through the entire process again. Nobody should be so naive as to think a no vote means we leave Iraq.
But others in his neighborhood — where a banner on the local mosque declared “No to the constitution, no to the occupation, and no to deceiving the people” — said they would vote in favor of the constitution. They said it offered the best hope for curbing rampant violence, ending foreign occupation and preserving Iraq’s unity.
“This country is wounded, and we have to heal the wounds, despite what is being said about the constitution,” said Aqil Naji, 30, the owner of a nut shop.
This is just stunningly stupid:
In the early days of September, as military helicopters plucked desperate New Orleanians from rooftops and Red Cross shelters swelled with the displaced, nearly 400,000 packaged meals landed on a tarmac at Little Rock Air Force Base and were whisked by tractor-trailer to Louisiana.
But most of the $5.3 million worth of food never reached the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Instead, because of fears about mad cow disease and a long-standing ban on British beef, the rations routinely consumed by British soldiers have sat stacked in a warehouse in Arkansas for more than a month.
Nagin can ask people to return to trash riddled streats, unsafe water and sewer and spotty phone service, but we cannot let the people have access to British food. I give up – government is not corrupt, it is just dumb.
The liberal media-formally-known-as-mainstream appears a little concerned for LA democrats. Folks, the people in Louisiana will be represented by those they chose – as it should be. What did they expect?
You want to read desperation and fantasy from the liberal media? Just take a gander at this wishful thinking in a supposed news article about the Plame investigation:
But the inquiry has swept up a dozen or more other officials who have been questioned by investigators or have testified before the grand jury, and, should it lead to the indictment of anyone at a senior level, it has the potential to upend the professional lives of everyone at the White House for the remainder of Mr. Bush’s second term.
See what happenings when people get obsessed? They wish the worst on the country simply so they can feel vindicated.
Hope everyone has a great day.
