Liberals Bite Democrats
I predicted back in August that Sheehan (a) represented the liberal majority of the now shrunken democrat base and (b) she and her like would turn on the democrats. My position, now confirmed, was the democrats had spun these folks up for over a decade, got them all in an anti-war lather, and when the democrat party would not stand with them they would turn.
And so it begins (and since the liberal media has distanced itself from all things Sheehan this has to come from a very conservative outlet)
Cindy Sheehan, the so-called “peace mom” on a crusade to end U.S. involvement in the Iraq war, is publicly blasting Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., for her continued support of the ongoing conflict.
“I think she is a political animal who believes she has to be a war hawk to keep up with the big boys,” Sheehan writes in an open letter. “I would love to support Hillary for president if she would come out against the travesty in Iraq. But I don’t think she can speak out against the occupation, because she supports it. I will not make the mistake of supporting another pro-war Democrat for president again: As I won’t support a pro-war Republican.”
The open letter is on far leftwing Michael Moore’s site:
This country wants this occupation to end. The world wants the occupation to end. People in Iraq want this occupation to end.
Actually, the world wants democracy to win in Iraq – but that is a different matter.
Senator Clinton: taking the peace road would not prove you are weak. Instead, it would prove that you are the strongest and wisest candidate. As a mom, as an American, as a patriot: I implore you to have the strength and courage to lead the fight for peace.
I want to support you, I want to work for you, but like many American moms, I will resist your candidacy with every bit of my power and strength unless you show us the wisdom it takes to be a truly great leader.
Cindy is calling for her son’s death to be in vain. Sad to see this, but she has been brainwashed. Less than a week from a hugely successful vote in Iraq, Cindy is lost in the rabid liberal past. Needless to say the woman rattles on ‘in vain’ declaring the democracy in Iraq an ‘occupation’. I think Cindy needs a new ‘occupation’…
Sheehan’s rants are the best thing to happen to Sen. Clinton. Hillary gets to publicly support the war, her supporters know where she actually stands and the uninformed public, which is nominally patriotic will “see” her as a strong, potential Commander in Chief.
Sheehan may be sincere and extreme, but I don’t think her castigation of Sen. Clinton will have any impact on the democrat base. I think this charade is all directed to those in the middle.
