Civil War In The Senate!
Thanks Michelle for the link and finding the typos! I am an engineer after all.
What a bad move by the democrats. Here we are only a few short weeks after Iraqis voted in their democratic form of government and took another step towards a strong ally in the ME, and the Democrats pull a stunt in the Senate.
Democrats forced the Republican-controlled Senate into an unusual closed session Tuesday, questioning intelligence that President Bush used in the run-up to the war in Iraq and accusing Republicans of ignoring the issue.
“They have repeatedly chosen to protect the Republican administration rather than get to the bottom of what happened and why,” Democratic leader Harry Reid said.
Taken by surprise, Republicans derided the move as a political stunt.
“The United States Senate has been hijacked by the Democratic leadership,” said Majority Leader Bill Frist. “They have no convictions, they have no principles, they have no ideas,” the Republican leader said.
In a speech on the Senate floor, Reid demanded the Senate go into closed session. The public was ordered out of the chamber, the lights were dimmed, and the doors were closed. No vote is required in such circumstances.
oooohhhh, spooky!
Note to Dems: Holloween was yesterday. Or didn’t you contemplate all the trick or treat jokes? Like since there have been no election treats senate dems turned to silly tricks for Holloween???
More in a bit.
UPDATE:
Never hursts to start with a link to Michelle Malkin. I agree with Bulldogpundit’s idea posted by Michelle – if you want to beat a liberal, just let them talk. I see no reason to stop the democrats from their silly stunt! The Iraq war is over, the democratic government gets voted in this December, and the Democrats want to run around like Joe Wilson!
What a hoot!
UPDATE II:
OK, Tricky Dicky Durbin seconded this stunt, so we know it is not serious.
Reid demanded the Senate go into closed session. With a second by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the public was ordered out of the chamber, the lights were dimmed, senators filed to their seats on the floor and the doors were closed. No vote is required in such circumstances.
Maybe he wants to recycle his Nazi nonsense – but doesn’t want the press in on it.
“The Libby indictment provides a window into what this is really all about, how this administration manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions,” Reid said before the doors were closed.
I am wondering if Fitzgerald is feeling like an idiot for being used for partisan games, or like a hero for bringing the ‘truth’ to the people? The ‘Libby’ indictment was not about Bush manipulating the press – it was about Libby not outing Plame with the inside knowledge he had….
Fitzgerald, the man who criminalized telling the truth to lies printed in the news media. And the democrats have cried ‘wolf’ so many times it is gone beyond funny, to sad. Bush lied, yada, yada, yada….
If anyone has any doubts about the attention span of a democrat regarding the war on terror – here’s your sign!
UPDATE III:
Mac Ranger is on a roll!
November hasn’t been a good month for Democrats in recent history.
Last week, Patrick ‘Elliot Ness’ Fitzgerald dropped the ball on their one-yard line…
Too funny.
Senate In Closed Session
Breaking on Fox News (h/t Sean Hannity):
The U.S. Senate went into closed session Tuesday after Democrats enacted a rare parliamentary rule forcing the shut down of the Senate so senators could speak in a classified session about the lead-up to the w…
This is the Left on a Hissy Fit. Any Questions?
November hasn’t been a good month for Democrats in recent history.
Last week, Patrick ‘Elliot Ness’ Fitzgerald dropped the ball on their one-yard line,
Must be tough for the Dems when the facts don’t fit the Agenda.
Now they have to throw tantrums to keep Libby in the news.
Forget that Fitz told them Friday this is all you get; no forged war lies. Now the Dems take it upon themselves to create an alternate reality, a bizaro senate, where innuendo is fact and lies are truths.
And to think I cast my first vote for Jimmah Carter in ’76 .. Shudder..
Kate O’Beirne just coined a new phrase…these senators are acting like “Joe Wilson-Democrats, a bunch of frustrated losers.”
OUCH!

Reid Goes Gutter With Rare Senate Rule To Conduct Secret Session
I am still collecting information about the procedure but what seems evident so far is that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has sought to keep the American people out of the Democrat’s business by closing the floor of the Senate for a “s…
What the hell are they playing at?
You know, I remember Republicans being very frustrated after Clinton “beat” his impeachment, but I don’t remember this kind of insanity. And not getting Rove’s scalp and the prospect of Alito on the court isn’t the same thing as being impeached. As I recall the response was to hunker down and win election cycles.
This is just nutty.
Is It Friday Yet?
The Senate Democrats pull out Rule 21 out of their bag of tricks to try and get the attention focused back on the War in Iraq and Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame, and the Libby indictment. Good for them. They’ve managed to turn themselves into a sideshow.
