I have to give credit were it is due: Fred Grandy came up with the apt name “Scare Force One” on his AM talk show this morning when discussing the act of frightening a US city to near death. How appropriate! The fact is Obama and the liberal left have forgotten about 9-11. They have shoved those horrible memories away, wishing instead to pretend there is no threat to America, and 9-11 was just an unfortunate incident we brought upon ourselves.
Living in a 9-11 zone (outside DC in Virginia) I can tell you that certain events leave an indelible mark on you. I here or see fighter jets, or see a phalanx of helicopters, or watch a plan doing some strange maneuvers and 9-11 and its aftermath come rushing back – for those of us who hold that memory in our hearts and souls.
Only an idiot would think of having a photo-op over ground zero involving a commercial airline type plane and a fighter jet:
On Monday morning, one of the 747s used to ferry around the U.S. president was dispatched to the Statue of Liberty, escorted by a fighter jet. Assignment: Get some fresh glamour shots of the plane.
As a result, to onlookers Monday all across downtown Manhattan — where the World Trade Center once stood — the photo shoot looked like a terrorist attack. People watched in horror as a massive aircraft, trailed closely by an F-16 fighter jet, banked and roared low near the city, in a frightening echo of the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Fearing the worst, thousands of people streamed out of the skyscrapers and into the streets. Some buildings ordered evacuations. “Oh God, it was mayhem in here, just mayhem,” says Rubin Shimon, manager of Styling Haircutters, a barbershop near Ground Zero. Many people took shelter in the shop to call loved ones on their cellphones.
Mission Accomplished. Or do the liberals forget all the crap they gave George Bush for his photo op on the US aircraft declaring the military portion of the invasion of Iraq complete (the rest of the time was to be spent stabilizing the country and standing up a democratic government, while trying to fight off the bloody Islamic Terrorists who made Iraq their primary front in our war on terror).
While we are on the topic of photo ops, it would do the liberals in DC some good to ponder these ‘photo ops':
This was a very horrific time in our country’s history. We should never forget what happened, all the suffering, all the losses. To be so callous as to reenact something close to 9-11, especially for BS promotional reasons, is unforgivable. I agree with those who say the Obama administration needs to apologize to the people of NY for using their airspace and home to get a bunch of nice pictures. NY is home to a lot people, it is not a stage prop.
