Pelosi Is Now A Lame Duck

Published by at 12:05 pm under All General Discussions

A Speaker of the House needs the support of the American people, since they are leading the “People’s House” and are 3rd in line to the President. Unlike the rest of the representatives in Congress, the Speaker is in a unique and special position.

Pelosi’s war with the CIA has made her (rightfully) damaged goods:

Embattled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has approval ratings nearly as low as Newt Gingrich when he was the primary lightning rod in Congress, a new poll says.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released this afternoon found that the approval of how Pelosi is doing her job as speaker has dropped from 51 percent in January to 46 percent in March to 39 percent now.

She accused those who are attempting to protect America and her people from attack of lying. But now it is well established it is she who lied to America. I seriously doubt her free fall has ended. Time to step down Nancy, your done (and have done enough damage).

Yeah, she’ll step down all right. When they drag her kicking screaming out the door. She may be damaged goods but she still is the one who decides what legislature is brought before the house so she is not totally powerless. It would require the dems to vote her out of the speakership and I doubt they will do that. They will wait until this whole thing blows over. And it will blow over as soon as the press lets up their coverage. Dems never resign. There are dem congressment and senators who have comited worse crimes that this, got caught and skated. Of course, republicans don’t have this luxury.

One might wish that Pelosi, as Speaker, could not survive having forfeited the confidence of the electorate, but all she needs, alas, is the support of her own party’s Congressional caucus and the President as leader of his party. She appears to have both.

Meanwhile, the latest Rasmussen poll indicates a statistically even split in belief about who is lying in this matter.

The angry left is taking this as a signal to press ahead with “Truth Commissions” or even indictments, in a belief that they can control the agenda of any such commissions and wield them as an instrument to discredit conservatives and exclude them from the political process for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully, Ms. Pelosi will one day suffer the consequences of her evasions and prevarications, but for now the issue of her truthfulness has become merely another battle in the political conflict that is tearing America apart.

Pelosi and her party are idiots (sorry to state the obvious). Who in their right mind would go after the CIA like this? The CIA has taken down self-righteous power hungry people in other countries, and I have no doubt they can take them down in this country (albeit in a peaceful way).

If she survives this, Barbara is right: she won’t resign, and no one will expect her to. Look at all the Dems now in Congress who are scandal tainted… Barney Frank is in office still, heck- Richard Byrd is a former KKKlansman. Only if Pelosi was a Republican would she be expected to quit.

    LOL. Really?

David Vitter? Larry Craig? Do you really want to start comparing scandals in the Senate along party lines?

Plus, keep in mind that Pelosi is still polling 14 points higher than Gingrich was at the low point of his second year.

And the reason that Dims can get away with anything and Pugs can not?

    1. MSM
    2. They fight loud, dirty and together.

Just as soon as the Powers-That-Be address #1, it will not matter about #2.

The lefty blogs have been parsing words in the CIA releases and finding faults and even Obey today talked about another error.

The CIA then had to remind them for the second time that the list of briefing dates was just from notes and memory and was not an ‘official transcript’ or any such document and that there may be some data errors.

The pretzel bending over on the left has been like the Clinton attempts to define the word ‘IS’.

Pragmatism=what ever is in vogue at the moment. Republicans get into trouble because they assert certain fundamental values. If nothing is fundamental to your value system it is hard to criticizes your position. The definition of, what is a democrat?

Specter defends Pelosi, questions CIA’s honesty

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) took the opportunity Wednesday to defend House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has come under fire in recent weeks over a controversy surrounding when she was told of the use of enhanced interrogation techniques being used by the CIA.

“The CIA has a very bad record when it comes to — I was about to say ‘candid’; that’s too mild — to honesty,” Specter, a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a lunch address to the American Law Institute.
