Military Appreciation Month
In honor of America’s troops, we have sponsored two fantastic organizations this month by providing free ads. Homes for our Troops is an organization that provides homes for severely injured Servicemen and Women and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and then coordinating the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility. The finished home is then given to the veteran. We have given donations regularly to this charity here at the Strata-Sphere and ask you to please consider helping out yourselves.
We also support Marine Parents Care Package Campaign. They gather items and cash and use volunteers to create care packages for our active duty servicemen and women serving overseas. They currently have plenty of items to put in the boxes, but require money to pay for postage. The June packing date is scheduled for June 6, 2009 and the August packing date is August 15, 2009.
They’re asking every web site visitor to send a $1 bill to MarineParents.com to help raise the funds needed to ship 2000 care packages to our Marines. Put a dollar bill in an envelope and mail it to the post office box below. Their goal is to raise $20,000 by the packing date of Saturday, August 15, 2009. Here is the address:Â MAIL your $1 donation to:Â
MarineParents.com, Inc.Â
Attn: Care Package CampaignÂ
P O Box 1115Â
Columbia, MO 65205-1115
Consider sending $1, $5, or more to help send these much appreciated packages to our brave Marines. We have given additional funds ourselves, and hope to inspire others to do the same by providing free advertising for this campaign.
Thanks so much for posting this information.
This was the first I had heard of the Care Package Campaign. What a terrific, easy way to show our support.
My donation is on the way to both and I know our friends and family members will be equally interested.
Again, thanks for the heads up!

Funny, the timing of your post. On a recent 11 hour plane trip I met a wonderful military mom who was involved in exactly such an endeavor as the Care Package campaign and was on her way to visit her newborn grandchild born to her Army helicopter pilot son who would soon be going back for his 4th tour in Iraq. One story she told me involved a soldier who was not getting any mail from home and his CO requested her group to help out. Her next correspondence was from the soldier with a beaming smile surrounded by letters and packages up to his waist. This is what America is all about—simple, unpretentious and not about me.
Check in with the milblogs for other worth causes.
Soldiers Angels comes in to mind as one I am a frequent supporter of.
There are many efforts out there, I just wish somebody would find a way to have many of them do the stuff they need to do to develop corporate sponsorships for some very good ,effective and low overhead expense great supporters of our troops.
