Obamacare: Only The Strong Will Survive II

Published by at 8:45 am under All General Discussions,Obamacare

I think we have a tag line for Obamacare that will rightly and accurately reflect what it means for average Americans. It means if you are not strong or fit (which is most of us), then you will probably not survive the rationed care. I made note of this when Obama himself admitted as much in his White House Infomercial with ABC News.

Charlotte Anne of the LA Times makes the same observation:

Here’s a way for America to cut its spiraling healthcare costs: ice floes.

This idea isn’t mine. It’s President Obama’s. Or rather, it’s where we’re likely to end up if the president prevails on Congress to pass the adventurous healthcare reform proposal currently being discussed, which the Congressional Budget Office estimates will cost about $1 trillion over the next 10 years. That’s on top of Medicare’s annual $327-billion budget, whose massive deficits, if they continue at the same rate, are predicted to bankrupt the Medicare system by the end of the next decade.

In looking for a way to fund healthcare, Obama has set his eye on the oldest and sickest. You see, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, about 30% of Medicare spending — nearly $100 billion annually — goes to care for patients during their last year of life. What if there were no “last year of life,” the president seems to be asking. The Eskimos used to set their elderly and sickly adrift on the ice or otherwise abandon them during times of scarcity, and that, metaphorically speaking, is what Obama would like us all to start doing.

This is not hyperbole or exaggeration. It is a result of a direct quote from Obama:

President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don’t stand to gain from the extra care.

What’s the difference if they may die in 10 minutes, 10 hours, or 10 days? What about 10 months?

This is Obamacare, which is modeled on the UK and Canadian systems where private health care is flourishing as those who can afford to run to a US-like system. Under Obama, only the strong (and wealthy) will survive. And it has the added benefit of reducing our overall carbon footprint.

This is an unacceptable position as I was forced, by law to paying into a system that guaranteed my care. No insurance company will sell me insurance because the government now takes care of my needs. Why just the old, what about those who will never be productive again because of some illness or stroke? What about the returning soldiers who were so badly hurt that they can’t be productive. Let them all die? I just love the compassionate Dems!

Kathie, you don’t get it. Health care is for Big Democrat Master and his cronies. Tax peasants get a one-way trip to the vet the instant we can’t pay taxes.

It’s not about health, it’s about creating a hereditary aristocracy.

(and I wish this were sarcastic)

I happen to agree with letting go gracefully… I am a Senior and dying will be the last adventure… without a bunch of tubes & life extending procedures…

Instead of letting USA Docs and hospitals eat up my savings [you know, the $$ my kids & wife will get], I plan to get away to Thailand & die on my terms…

Wasn’t that a Jack London short story where the Eskimo tribe leaves the elder with a fire and comfort when he [she?] is unable to travel and the tribe has to move to another site??

Toes….Obama is not talking about tubes, he talking about hip replacement surgery (my Uncle had one at 88 and is still going strong at 94, taking care of his ranch), brain tumors (like Teddy), major surgeries that would extend the quality of life, if even for a few years. That might be a choice I would like to make myself. I have made end of life choices in my will, and it is none of Obamas business. You don’t demand that people must use the government for health insurance, and then decide to end their life so the young can have more money. The young should be carrying their own insurance so they can make decisions about their choices.

Hard to believe but Jack London was a socialist who apparently believed that he should get rich to advance that belief… Died at 40 & only spent one year in Alaska… Really sc**wed wolves as his writing falsely [although wonderfully] described their behavior…

“… Why this longing for life? It is a game which no man wins. To live is to toil hard, and to suffer sore, till Old Age creeps heavily upon us and we throw down our hands on the old man gasps his last, and all his days are full of trouble and sorrow; yet he goes down to the open arms of Death, stumbling, falling, with head turned backward, fighting to the last. And Death is kind. It is only Life, and the things of Life that hurt. Yet we love Life, and we hate Death. It is very strange….”
