Crosspatch:

Cut marksbbr some slack; Richard Nixon's political career was supposedly over in 1962, after an unsuccessful California governor's bid (<i>"Well, you wont have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore"</i>).

Of course, he came roaring back.

Which, I suspect, was exactly marksbbr point.

I suppose we will see, won't we? Got anything to back up your statement or is it just words? So far it doesn't look like Palin has hurt herself politically and it is all going to depend on what she does August 1 and thereafter. If she comes out swinging, the Dems are going to be in an even larger world of hurt. I imagine they are going to get quite frantic now in an effort to try to shut her up.

Palin's political career is over. Just like Nixon's political aspirations were destroyed in 1962 when he gave his "last press conference."

I’m amazed at how many Dem strategist I have heard over the past few days say “Palin can’t run in 2012″ as if her political career is dead now. They keep repeating it over and over again</i>.

Of course, if they REALLY believed that, they would probably NOT be repeating it over and over. <i>"Omm,... can't run in 2012,... can't run in 2012,... can't run in 2012,... omm...."</i> :-)

Don't believe the jobless numbers out this morning; statistical manipulation and computer modeling has caused a smaller than expected increase to be reported as a decrease. Not quite the same thing.

The trouble appears to be that the statistical models assumed that most of the auto layoffs would happen this month when in fact they happened last month. So, rather than showing what the data actually is showing - a slow but steady increase in unemployment - they are reporting a huge jump last month, then a small drop this month. (to be followed by a jump, then a drop, ad infinitum)

The mathematical modeling is supposed to smooth out the data and make it more reflective of reality. The current crop of geniuses have figured out how to make it do exactly the opposite.

The Dem attack machine was at full throttle filing unsubstantiated charges against Palin causing her to have to personally pay lawyers to defend herself. A million in legal fees is no laughing matter. the Dems are pros at this. In 1996, when SC Gov. Carroll Campbell was being hailed as the no. one candidate to run against Bill Clinton, Janet Reno
announced she was going to reinvestigate charges made against Campbell by state Dems after the Operation Lost Trust sting resulted in the conviction or guilty pleas fo over 30 Dem elected and appointed state officials. The State Law Inforcement Div., headed by a man apointed by a Dem governor, investigated the charges and decided they were unsubstantiated. Yet Reno announced that the Justice Dept. was going to reopen the case. After Campbell announced he was not a Candidate for the Presidency, the investigation was dropped. The charge against Campbell was that he somehow violated the law because he appointed a personal friend, and successful businessman, as head of the State Development Board. This man brought several large industries to SC during Campbell's administration. So, like Jesse Jackson and other "civil Rights leaders," and ACORN, CAIR and "environmental organizations" use the law to further their own ends by filing costly lawsuit which most defendants cannot afford to defend themselves, the Dems use the law to eliminate the competition. The moral is: Only a super rich person can afford to run against the Dems for public office.

"It seems to me, however, that she will be down in the lower 48 a lot….building up her support system, supporting conservative/responsible candidates, challenging Obama’s policies, and attempting to pull independent voters her way long before 2012 even gets here."

Holding the Democrats' feet to the fire in a VERY public way would be a great strategy for her. And the Democrats have done about all the damage they can do at this point. If they continue the piling on and attacking her family, it is going to backfire on the Democrats and increase public sympathy for her. There is nothing the American people like better than to see a person down and getting kicked while they are down stand up and start dishing it back.

There is something else going on here also. Romney had made great gains in picking up support from independents. State polls all over the country show independents leaving Obama like rats off a sinking ship. Go back and listen to the words she has been using (especially since she resigned her Gov job). She is attempting to shore up independent support right now. It is way too early for a Presidential run. And, to be frank, that kind of talk is the last thing Americans want. It is one of the things we are sick of. You just get over an election and already people start talking about the next one. She isn't going to do that. It seems to me, however, that she will be down in the lower 48 a lot....building up her support system, supporting conservative/responsible candidates, challenging Obama's policies, and attempting to pull independent voters her way long before 2012 even gets here.
Palin's interview with Fox yesterday aboard the boat hit on what I believe is the primary point. Why can other politicians say "leave my family alone" while the media goes after her children like sharks on a feeding frenzy. This says the media is afraid of her and is attempting character assassination in order to try to somehow invalidate her message.

The left plays this all the time as part of their "shut up" strategy for preventing any opposing message. Rather than try to argue the point being raised, they attack the person bearing the message in very personal ways to distract attention away from the message and onto the individual. It is basically an elementary school playground tactic. Someone points out that an answer in class was incorrect, explains what the correct answer is, and the person with the incorrect answer changes the subject to the accuser's bed wetting problem. It doesn't at all address the incorrect answer but it does distract attention away from that point and makes the accuser a point of ridicule. It also makes others watching less likely to raise such points for fear that they will also be made the subject of ridicule.

The left in this country, mainly the Democrat Party is dishonest, despicable, corrupt, and just plain not trustworthy.

The attacks on Palin were also meant to keep other women "in line" by implying that they would get the same treatment. It discouraged some women from vocally supporting her lest they themselves be cast as hillbilly trailer trash better cast on Jerry Springer than on Meet The Press.

At this point I believe we are going to see the bottom fall out from under the support for the Democrats. It is sort of like al Qaida in Iraq. Once people get a belly full of their rule, they come to see the error of their ways. The Democrats aren't long for Congress and Obama is going to be a one-term President.

I think the question is whether the ticket will be Palin/Bush or Bush/Palin.

Jeb Bush, that is. Right now, I think he is rapidly becoming the strongest candidate standing.

Considering the fact that they have thrown everything at her including the kitchen sink and she is still standing has to be getting on their nerves.

Soon the noise machine on the left will have to come up with some major way to do her in or their value to many will start taking a beating.

Important narrative missing from the Palin story. No one in media, except for talk radio host John Ziegler has pointed out that Palin has done this before! She quit a very nice, high paying job, to run for governor of Alaska. Her explanation for the decision was that she couldn't do what she wanted to do. She felt she could make things happen in the role of governor.

Since the VP run, the Dems up in Alaska have polarized to her. She is having more difficulty getting what she wants. She wants to win. She expects results. When she can't get results she looks for new ways to get results. Her strategy is what it was before, look for an opening.
