Sarah Palin Steps Into “Center” Stage

Published by at 7:26 am under All General Discussions

The defunct and failed political industrial complex is all in a tizzy because Sarah Palin is making her move. And they have good reason to feel threatened (though they have no good excuse for being unprofessional and insulting). Palin is coming out aiming for the heart of American politics – the centrists:

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP’s base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and “energy independence.”

“People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican,” said Mrs. Palin, who stunned the political world earlier this month with her decision to step down as governor July 26 with 18 months left in her term.

Both her son, Track, 20, an enlisted soldier serving in Iraq, and her husband, Todd, are registered as “nonpartisan” in Alaska.

The largest and fastest growing voting block is independents, who have been repulsed (and rejected with insults) by the partisan fringes. Palin is dead on right to wage a centrist battle from inside the GOP. And she can easily win it. There far right, or ‘true conservatives’ as they call themselves, are a small minority inside the larger conservative leaning electorate. A center right coalition which avoids the fringes would be a force to reckon with. And with the liberal economy now in a death spiral, anyone who irritates both ends of the spectrum will crush.

And as we learned yesterday, Palin’s so called failure was able to bring in a stunning $733,000 dollars in donations in the first half of this year. Once she starts getting on the road and she brings back those crowds of hers, all those naysayers – who will be the next ones losing their jobs – will rue the day they rejected Main Street America in an attempt to keep their retched hold on political power.

Sarah Palin came out swinging today against the Democrats’ lunatic energy tax plans:

There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America’s unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won’t bring jobs. Our nation’s debt is unsustainable, and the federal government’s reach into the private sector is unprecedented.

Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:

I am deeply concerned about President Obama’s cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Beautiful. Three paragraphs and she nails our current situation, the distracted navel-gazing media, and the fact that the only thing really being capped in “Cap & Trade” is our economy and jobs. We will cap our economy and trade away jobs so as to lower our energy production, which in turn does nothing about that mythical global warming which disappeared 11 years ago.

American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president’s cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy.

Agreed. This and the destruction of our health care would pretty much screw up this country for generations. Obama and his liberal allies have proven they are not up to the job. It is time to stop dealing with the fringes and have main street centrists lead this nation out of the mess the partisans and their political industrial complex have created through their hubris and arrogance.

Out of curiousity, why do you ignore polls like these, which show just how badly Palin has screwed up over the past few months?

Polls years before an election are no real indicator. But, even then….other polls look good for Sarah Palin:
    —-

A new Gallup poll shows Republicans evenly-divided over their choice for president in 2012.

Mitt Romney leads the pack with 26%, followed by Sarah Palin at 21%, Mike Huckabee at 19% and Newt Gingrich at 14%.

Key finding: “Palin’s strong showing suggests she remains a contender for GOP front-runner status even after her surprising decision to resign as governor of Alaska, which she announced July 3. Some have speculated that she made that decision with an eye toward running for president in 2012.”

Frogg – dead on there my friend. Add into the calculation her awesome fundraising prowess and she will vault to the lead with ease.
