Polls years before an election are no real indicator. But, even then....other polls look good for Sarah Palin:
----

A new Gallup poll shows Republicans evenly-divided over their choice for president in 2012.

Mitt Romney leads the pack with 26%, followed by Sarah Palin at 21%, Mike Huckabee at 19% and Newt Gingrich at 14%.

Key finding: "Palin's strong showing suggests she remains a contender for GOP front-runner status even after her surprising decision to resign as governor of Alaska, which she announced July 3. Some have speculated that she made that decision with an eye toward running for president in 2012."

Out of curiousity, why do you ignore polls like these, which show just how badly Palin has screwed up over the past few months?

Palin Beocmes MoveOn Target

MoveOn.org began e-mailing members Tuesday, asking them to fund a rapid response ad blasting Palin's new Washington Post op-ed that criticized President Obama's position on "cap and trade" legislation — a major part of the administration's effort to overhaul the nation's energy policy.

The group said Palin was positioning herself as the face of conservative opposition to Obama's energy policy, telling supporters her op-ed was "a marvel of misinformation and outright lies."

The group has not yet said where the spot would air, or revealed the scope of any potential ad buy.

I think people are tired of carreer corruptocrats of Both parties screwing them over. In these times I do not believe a third party run by a real citizen with real world experienc equates to a loss.

Running another Dem Lite like John McCain by the Good Old Boy Inside the beltway GOPers equates a loss!

John got his ass handed to him just like I told you he would. After he picked Sarah I contributed and worked for him knowing he pandered on global warming and no drill nowhere.

Read Glenn Becks book "Common Sense" and realize that the American people are not represented by inside the beltway torch passers and the attitude of Aristocracy that the Two Party carreer politician system has become.

They pass bills they couldn't possibly have read in the middle of the night and are giving the voters the middle finger until election time as they have the districts and campaign finance laws rigged so that only the uber rich dare try a run.

Sarah is just what we need to reform D.C. and give the houses of congress back to the people. That and Term Limits and limits on their perks of office such that they never again forget they are servants of the people not Kings and Queens elected for life.

I'll give you John McCain did one thing right in his pathetic campaign. named Sarah. Then when she drew crowds 4-5 times the size he could he followed her around like a dog in heat tryin to live off the attention she brought to the ticket. A sick display of a pandering old politician way past his prime and time, but foisted upon us by an open primary system in liberal States that the GOP shows no will to change and the mainstream media who knew if they could get him the nomination that he would not stand a chance.

All that I said when he became the nominee and all came true. John McCain did not fight fight fight. He suspended his pathetic campaign to go to D.C., reach out to the Dems and screw the American people out of nearly 1 trillion dollars and throw capitalism, free enterprise, under the bus in favor of Big Government! How's that workin out so far?

More of the same? I think NOT!

dhunter:

If Sarah Palin runs a third party it will be Ross Perot all over again. It will guarantee Obama a second term and it will also alienate a lot of loyal Republicans who voted for Palin in 2008 when she was the VP on the GOP ticket. She is where she is today because John McCain put her on that ticket.

This political system in this country is not a parliamentary system with numerous little parties. It is and always has been a 2 party system. It makes more sense to try and work within the existing party structure. I mean come on, people on the right have enough problems just tolerating each other and forming coalitions within in one big party. Try to turn it into a third party and you will immediately lose tens of millions of people.

Sarah Palin can address the issues just as easily and more successfully as a Republican or as a fiscal conservative speaking out on the issues. And while I am sure she will say she wants to deal with all kinds of people, I doubt very much if too many Democrats are interested.

No, a third party is a waste of time. And not only that it would only devolve into the same back biting and in fighting we have now. They would tear each other apart in a third party. Each little faction demanding equal time and they would only pull support from the GOP.

In fact Sarah Palin herself has not said she wants to do anything of the kind. Has she ever said anything about term limits either? I don't think so.

And the GOP has shown more gumption in recent months in terms of standing up to Obama than I thought they had in them. I think that we should push them in the direction we want them to go...not go on some fool's errand. The stakes are too high.

AJ:

Most of Sarah Palin's supporters are not centrists or Independents, they are conservative Republicans. I think you fail to realize that sometimes. Many of the very people you worry about on the right are actually Palin's greatest admirers.

I like and respect Sarah Palin. I think she is a smart woman. But I also think she is a conservative.

Given the reactions on the Washington Post blog she is driving the nutbars crazy. They brought it on themselves. She has suffered what can only be described as a political and media stoning. However, now she has taken all they can dish out and has started to throwing the rocks back. Fantastic.

Agree with jeffgus. To say Sarah Palin is centrist is a serious stretch.

I would call her non-partisan, in that she is clearly at odds with both major parties for their devotion to large government and excessive spending. But, she clearly said that she would work for Conservative candidates, of any party or no party, who advocate limited government, controlled spending, and energy independence. That is pretty definitive of the conservative philosophy and sounds a lot like what I hear from movement Conservatives like Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin. Not to put words in her mouth, but I surmise that she opposes federal usurption of the state's constitutional prerogatives. Since we already know she is pro-life and strong on national security, it looks as though the bases are pretty well covered.

Hooray for Sarah!

I don't know that I have ever heard anything that Palin has said that has struck me as centrist. Her stance on abortion appears to be strictly conservative. Fiscally she comes down squarely on the side of the free market. The pipeline deal she made appeared to stress competition.

I think the conservative message is common sense and very centrist. The problem is that the Republicans are not articulating a conservative message. They certainly haven't behaved as conservatives in a while -- except on some hot button issues.

Palin can articulate conservatism the way Reagan did. Reagan had a way of pointing on the idiocy of liberalism in funny and common sense ways. Reagan didn't become a centrist, but he won over centrists in a very, very big way.

WWS
Not in this climate and these times! Aren't people a little pissed at the two party system driving their retirement to 1/2 or less of its valu?
Of the leaders in both parties pandering to the global warming hoax that would further cement our grief and put us further into the poor house.

Of Senators and Congress critters passing bills they couldn't have possibly read?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Keep voting Dem Or Rep. and keep getting what you got sounds a little insane to me.

Keep goin to the dance with the same old partner who leaves you standing in the corner for the next best thing to come along?

Not in this climate and these times! Aren’t people a little pissed at the two party system driving their retirement to 1/2 or less of its valu?
Of the leaders in both parties pandering to the global warming hoax that would further cement our grief and put us further into the poor house.

Of Senators and Congress critters passing bills they couldn’t have possibly read?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Keep voting Dem Or Rep. and keep getting what you got sounds a little insane to me.

Keep goin to the dance with the same old partner who leaves you standing in the corner for the next best thing to come along?
