Federal Government Already Failing To Pay Its Bills
Drudge has a very important story headlined today which underscores the fallacy of President Obama’s liberal healthcare experiment. And the core of this faux miracle is the idea government can run a better quality system. I am here to say, as a federal government contractor to DoD and NASA, that the role of the government is not to do something better than industry – which is why the government relies on industry to do just about everything it needs from computers systems to janitorial services to other specialized systems (like spacecraft and tanks), to its energy, transportation, food services, medical services, daycare services, etc. The government does not do things well, it takes on constitutionally mandated jobs that must be done.
And health care is not one of those constitutionally mandated jobs:
A hospital that serves thousands of indigent Massachusetts residents sued the state on Wednesday, charging that its costly universal health care law is forcing the hospital to cover too much of the expense of caring for the poor.
The hospital, Boston Medical Center, faces a $38 million deficit for the fiscal year ending in September, its first loss in five years. The suit says the hospital will lose more than $100 million next year because the state has loweredMedicaid reimbursement rates and stopped paying Boston Medical “reasonable costs†for treating other poor patients.
Bottom line, government is not being responsible for its share of the burden right now. It is going beyond cheap on its current health care commitments to the poor and needy right now! The only think holding up Medicaid and Medicare are the good intentions of the private health care companies and all of us who pay skyrocketing premiums to cover the cheap skates in DC who claim THEY are the ones who can fix the mess they made.
What about Medicaid and Medicare – they are going bankrupt. As everyone has known for years. Same thing with social security, it too is going bankrupt. And what about the $1.84 trillion dollars in debt Obama and the DC liberals racked up – how do we pay for that?
DC will do to health care what it did to the jobs market and the automakers. Which is spend a lot of money and get abysmal results. And they and their cronies will walk away filthy rich and we will be holding the IOUs. Just like with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Update: Blue Dog Democrats expose further evidence that Medicare/Medicaid are right now rationed on the poor in fly over country (that would be the part of America outside LA, Chicago, DC and NY City):
Blue Dogs think the bill fails to do enough to reduce healthcare costs, jeopardizes jobs with a fee on employers that don’t provide health insurance, and would base a government-run healthcare plan on a Medicare payment system that already penalizes their rural districts.
Emphasis mine. The essence of their complaint is the cheap DC bureaucrats who short change people across this country by not paying the market price for health care, are especially stingy with Main Street America, where they hold back the money even more. This is Obamacare. This is rationing that has been going on for years, masked by the private insurance companies covering for the DC dead beats.
[…] at Strata-Sphere and I are right on the same page, the federal government must be limited to Constitutionally […]
Think Medicare is fair to doctors and hospitals? I recently went to a routine Doctor’s office visit. The charge was 96.00. Medicare deductible was $38 . Medicare then paid the doctor $3.24.
That may seem fair to some, but not to me. Even at 10% they would have paid $9.60.
And they plan to ‘cut’ what they’re paying? hmmm!!!
Just today I got a lecture from someone who believes that stories like this are proof that we need Obamacare. After all, once the government takes over all health care then everyone will get care and no one can go broke.
Honestly, some of these people have no idea how capitalism works.
