CBO Warns Congressional Liberals: You’re Destroying America
Couched in the proper neutral phrasing that is required of bureaucrats, the head of the Congressional Budget Office just testified to Congress that their liberal crazy schemes are destroying America:
Under current law, the federal budget is on an unsustainable path, because federal debt will continue to grow much faster than the economy over the long run. Although great uncertainty surrounds long-term fiscal projections, rising costs for health care and the aging of the population will cause federal spending to increase rapidly under any plausible scenario for current law. Unless revenues increase just as rapidly, the rise in spending will produce growing budget deficits. Large budget deficits would reduce national saving, leading to more borrowing from abroad and less domestic investment, which in turn would depress economic growth in the United States. Over time, accumulating debt would cause substantial harm to the economy.Â
You can tell those sane people in DC have are now ready to rise up in opposition to the out of control liberal efforts to ram through as many clueless liberal fantasy policies as possible before their political capitol runs out. They went too far, too fast and failed too completely for people to stand by and watch anymore. The wheels are about to come off the Obama-Pelosi-Reid bus. These fools are starting to really frighten a lot of people.
You have to ask the question, do they care? Nobody with an ounce of intelligence, needed the office of the CBO to tell them that the economy will sink under the weight of proposed health care and/or the cap and trade proposals.
I would have thought that the President would have spent his free time, which he seems to have a lot of, cutting the budget down to bare bones, then proposed. It is hard to imagine that the geniuses of Obama’s administration, have not warned him of the consequences of his reckless plans. They have reputations to protect as well. It is so reckless that I have to wonder what the real motive is. I mean how many times can Obama tell a lie and get away with it. A bill of $768 trillion, that they now say, it was not suppose to be a stimulus, only that it was one leg of stabilization, a health care bill that was to give people insurance, not really reduce costs……….what next.
This is also what gets me, Kathy. The recklessness – it makes me wonder if they have other intentions after they accomplish this
r(h)am through. I am usually level headed and I hate conspiracy theories, but – if they are trying to accumulate all this power, will they be able to reliinquish it down the line? What do they plan next? And he does lie. He lies as if he thinks we are living in an age without recording devices. If the media started playing the message from a month ago against the message from yesterday – he would be in the 40’s for approval. Additionally, the Jarkarta bombing today makes me think we are doing a 90’s rewind leading up to another 9/11 – the terrorists know they have an open playing field again.
I think many Americans want to see everyone have access to health insurance. I don’t think most Americans meant they wanted the government to be our health insurer.
A law that forces health insurers to pool together small employers into larger groups, puts caps on rates for individual policies, eliminates “pre-existing condition” restrictions, and possibly subsidizes premiums for the unemployed is something I think most people could support. The notion that government should completely take over the health insurance industry is just nuts.
Over 75% of the recent (past 10 years or so) increase in uninsured people in this country is due to immigration (legal and otherwise). Considering that a huge portion of people without health insurance are illegal immigrants, do you think they will be going to the US government for health insurance? Somehow I don’t think so.
[…] relax on this matter for the rest of the summer. Here’s the letter itself. Basically it was the CBO’s shot across the bow of the liberal congressional leaders which was, as I suspected it would be, the final […]
