Obamacare Takes Another Blow
Obamacare is really and truly falling apart:
he House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee has canceled its Tuesday debate and vote on healthcare legislation but has kept a Wednesday meeting on its schedule.
The Democratic-led committee has been struggling to keep a group of fiscally conservative Democrats on board with the nearly $1 trillion, 10-year healthcare overhaul. The group, known as the Blue Dog Democrats, has said they cannot support legislation that would increase the massive federal budget deficit.
Even with huge majorities in both houses of Congress, the Dem leadership can’t sell this liberal scheme to their own caucus. The implosion of Obamacare seems almost certain now. If Congress wants to deal with health care, fix the rising costs and provide for small businesses and individuals to join insurance pools so we can get better rates.
Get rid of the frivolous law suits. And Congress needs to pay fair price for Medicaid and Medicare services instead of leaving all of us to cover it through higher premiums. No more unfunded mandates. There is a desire to fix the escalating cost – but that is it. Reach beyond that and I am sure the voters will find other people to do what needs to be done.
There are so many good solutions to healthcare and you hear none of them. How about warranties on surgery? How about a certain amount of phone consultations so you don’t go to the doctor for something that can be handled in a conversation. Why is cosmetic surgery getting better and cheaper? (rhetorical) The problem with this debate is that it’s loaded with politics. Each party has someone to CYA, so all we get are the same “solutions” offered. They should let one state go totally free market healthcare, I would say Idaho because I live here. Give it 3 years and see the miracle.
The blue dogs would accept the legislation if it didn’t contain the big tax increases. Of course, without the big tax increases it will blow out the deficit, which the Senate would never accept. The only way to cut the expense enough is to drop the public plan portion – but over 50 liberal house members have sworn to oppose the bill if there’s no public plan, and combined with the republicans that should be enough to kill it.
It’s an entertaining catch-22 they’re in. They can’t pass it in it’s current form – but every “fix” being proposed causes even bigger problems for the bill.
Obama is in idiot for tying his Presidency to this turkey of an issue. He didn’t have to do it this way – he never had to. But now he has, and the perception of him is going to continue to drop along with the economy.
One term President? Oh yeah!!!
Looks like Obama’s marching the members of this committee to his white house and “order” them to vote yes for his obamacare.
Someone ask Obama if it is true that the government will mandate all insurance companies, private and the public option so that what you had will be different then what you thought you signed up for. He said he did know, he hadn’t read that. So someone asked if congress hadn’t read the bill, the President hadn’t read the bill, who is writing these bills that know one has read? I think a very good question, lobbyists?
Obama is meeting with the Blue Dog Dems today to try to change their minds. Let’s see if his bribes and/or threats work or not. The DNC is running ads against Blue Dog Dems, also.
This is the point of Nationalized Health Care that no one will talk about. However CNN tried to bring it to peoples attention last night with Sange Gupta. He interviewed many people who didn’t or couldn’t receive proper medical help. In the few cases I saw, the reason given by the people themselves, was that they were black. But I think it also refers to the poor, or not well insured.
A quote that I think is accurate…….
” Obama and the Democrats think it’s unfair that those who pay for health care get a better standard of care, and prompter service, and so forth, than those who don’t, and wish to end this “Tyranny of Paying Customers.”
The reason Nationalized Health Care was brought to Canada was that it was not fair that some got good care and others did not. Their system states that all will be equally treated regardless of economic circumstances. In theory a very noble idea, in practice it has caused a shortage in doctors, nurses, hospitals, medications, and we know the rest of the story. Mediocrity in every aspect of care.
If the Obama administration wants to emulate the Canadian System, just say so and lets vote on it. Why the lies about lowering the cost, competition, keep your own plan.
This is the Republican plan
To hear Obama tell it, they don’t have one.
