Seems the Pakistanis have really soured on their violent Islamo Fascist neighbors in the tribal areas:
MORE than 80 per cent of Pakistanis view the Taleban as a critical threat to the country, a poll released yesterday said.
It marked a major shift in public support behind the government’s campaign against the fundamentalist Muslim militants. The turn [...]

Update: We apparently nailed three top Taliban commanders:
Two suspected U.S. drone attacks against militants in northern Pakistan over the last day have killed at least 55 people, including three top Taliban commanders, and wounded 50 others, Pakistani intelligence sources said Wednesday.
Rumors have it Baitullah Mehsud himself was nearby during the second attack, no confirmation though. [...]

The one thing that could turn the world away from threat of Muslim extremism was, sadly, a fight for the heart and soul of Islam. When this happens (as it did in Iraq in Anbar Province, as it did in Afghanistan with the defeat of Taliban rule, as it is happening in the Tribal Areas [...]

Update: Here’s a very interesting post over at the Huffington Post by a Muslim who also sees the days numbered for al Qaeda and the Taliban. It is a fascinating assessment from inside the Muslim community, one which mirrors my own assessment of where things are headed from my perch well outside Islam. Two distinct and independent [...]

The years of determination and diligence in the war against terror may be paying off soon. The Obama administration is beefing up forces in Afghanistan and tightening the border with Pakistan’s tribal areas where al Qaeda has its last large sanctuary.
In addition, the Pakistan Army is pushing northward and westward, clearing the NWFP’s Swat region [...]

One of the sings that indicated to me, very early on in Iraq, that The Surge in Anbar Province was going to work as it expanded across Iraq was the fact that the Islamo Fascist terrorists were targeting the Muslim Main Street - thereby creating the backlash that turned al Qaeda from the future of [...]

It is good to see the Obama administration pushing Pakistan to root out the terrorists from their last major sanctuaries in northern Pakistan. This area represents a major threat to peace and security in the west. It is the birthplace of al Qaeda and not far from where the 9-11 attacks (and others - since [...]

Some interesting news came out today regarding a home grown terrorist plot to kill hundreds of innocent people:
Four New York men were arrested Wednesday in connection with an alleged plot to blow up area Jewish centers and military targets. The plot, however, was foiled by undercover agents.
Raids by the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorist Task Force in the [...]

Updates Below
This year the US and Pakistan are definitely going to make a major push against al Qaeda and the Taliban. I have been wondering why al Qaeda had been slowly moving people from its sanctuary in Pakistan to Somalia (a dangerous migration since movement can be detected). It seems a new effort to purge [...]

Missed this blockbuster news:
Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s No. 2 leader, the most wanted terrorist after Osama bin Laden, with a $25 million bounty on his head, is holed up near Quetta, Pakistan, according to a highly placed Pakistani intelligence source.
…
Al-Zawahiri’s recent movements can be tracked with some specificity. He was positively identified in the North [...]

Update: More details can be found here:
Missiles believed to have been fired from a US drone struck a remote compound linked to Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud today - the day after he threatened to attack Washington and took responsibility for the assault on a police training camp in Pakistan.
Neither Mr Mehsud or one of his [...]

Update: Even WaPo determines Obama’s decision to win Afghanistan is a gutsy continuation of the Bush policies. - end update
President Obama has demonstrated two things in his first few months. First (and worst), he has demonstrated how truly inexperienced and unprepared he and his team truly were. But second (and most unexpected), President Obama has [...]

The news last week, which had me a bit disturbed initially, was that Taliban forces in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan had set aside their differences and joined forces:
Three rival Pakistani Taliban groups have agreed to form a united front against international forces in Afghanistan in a move likely to intensify the insurgency just as thousands of [...]

An interesting bit of news has come out on the hunt for Bin Laden. Some researchers at UCLA decided to apply some statistical models to the problem of determining where Bin Laden may be hiding out, and have concluded he may be hiding in one of three possible buildings in a large town near the [...]

The Brave New World of President Obama has some disturbing trends to it. The worst is the attempt to go back to a pre 9-11 delusional state that a violently oppressive form of religion can co-exist with modern, open, western societies.
We humans spent the 1990’s pretending that blood lusting jihadis in Afghanistan and Pakistan were [...]
