A Polling “I Told You So”

Prior to the Christmas holidays going into full swing I noted the deteriorating nature of the polls and how to prove samples over the holidays were a bunch of garbage. Here is what I said on December 20th, 2007:
Never before has the Presidential election attempted an incursion into America’s sacred time to give thanks [...]

Divide Or Unite In ‘08? Divided Buys Us Nothing

“Unite America ‘08″ has a nice fresh tone to it as a possible political slogan for the coming silly season. It also seems cheesy, but that is why my dabbling in politics ends at writing a blog part time, I do not make a living in politics. But the observation is still valid, if [...]

UK Telegraph Names General David Patraeus “Person Of The Year”

Published by AJStrata under All General Discussions

The UK Telegraph has done what Time Magazine should have done if it could have gotten over all that egg on their faces over what has transpired in Iraq this year. The UK magazine recognized General David Petraeus as their Person Of The Year:
Today, we put him in the spotlight again by naming Gen [...]

Belgium Buckles In Fear Of al-Qaeda

Published by AJStrata under All General Discussions

Belgium has decided it is not safe to have fireworks on New Year’s Eve because of the threat of terrorism. They also felt it necessary to close up ice rinks early. I am sure Bin Laden and his thugs are just rolling with laughter in their caves. No word on whether the nation [...]

Is There An Awakening Brewing In Pakistan and Afghanistan?

I was one of a few who noticed around March of 2007 that something dramatic was happening in Iraq. There were some intermittent stories about conflicts between Iraqi Sunnis and al-Qaeda, which in hindsight were the first steps in the impressive turn around for Iraq and its future. When the local started to [...]

Major Update: The Iraqis Bin Laden is begging to stop destroying his movement (in Iraq and in the Muslim world in general) as posted below have now publicly challenged Bin Laden to stop murdering Muslims!
An Iraqi US-backed tribal council Sunday called on the leader of the Al Qaeda terrorist network Osama bin Laden to [...]

The Silent Moderate Majority

The instability of the horse race polls in New Hampshire and Iowa are an indication of a much broader dynamic that the pollsters and the talking heads just cannot get their minds wrapped around. The dedicated party stalwarts – what is left of them – keep cycling around trying to find some other answer [...]

Iraq Violence Continues Its Steady Decline In December, Path To Victory Continues

Previously I posted that we would actually be able to measure al-Qaeda’s remaining effectiveness in Iraq because they had called on all elements to step up their attacks in Iraq during the months of December and January:
The leader of the Islamic State in Iraq, an al Qaeda-linked group forced on the defensive by its former [...]

Denying al-Qaeda’s Role In Bhutto Assassination Is To Deny Reality, And Bhutto Herself

I was not a a Benazir Bhutto supporter. I did not know much about her except she had enough dirt against her she was forced into exile. And under her rule the Taliban rose and were nurtured. Good intentions do not equate to good acts. She could have just been overtaken [...]

Rough Fix

Published by LJStrata under All General Discussions

Through the gracious assistance of Merlin, I have tried to reconstruct The Strata-Sphere posts that were lost in the drive crash. I probably got them out of order, I didn’t have date or time info to work with. Also all links by AJ back to his own posts were left out, too many were broken [...]

Police Abandoned Bhutto Prior To Attack?

It seems police security in place at Bhutto’s rally left their post prior to the attack on her:
Perhaps more shockingly, an attendee at the rally where Bhutto was killed says police charged with protecting her “abandoned their posts,” leaving just a handful of Bhutto’s own bodyguards protecting her.
“Police officers had frisked the 3,000 to 4,000 [...]

Huckabee’s Dukakis Moment

One thing a President can’t be is a loose cannon willing to shoot wildly and with out purpose and thought. Presidential candidate “Wild Mike” Huckabee has demonstrated why this is so true with a wild shotgun blast over the heads of the news media at a photo shoot (pun intended):
Any good sportsman, though, couldn’t [...]

Bhutto Update: No Bullets

In a prime example of how rumors can run wild it seems there were no bullet wounds to Bhutto, calling into question the news reported in the New York Sun earlier today. The changes in what happened is coming out as details become available from Pakistan:
Mystery shrouds the death of former Pakistan prime minister [...]

Complex Military Operation In Bhutto Killing

Conflicting News Update Here
It would seem the forces in Pakistan spooked by a possible Bhutto win include some elements of the Pakistani military or ISI, given the accounts being presented in the New York Sun today:
American and Pakistani military leaders are seeking to account for what may be renegade commando units from the Pakistani military’s [...]

Evidence Coming In Bhutto Assassination

It seems Pakistan has clear evidence of al-Qaeda and Taliban complicity in Bhutto’s assassination:
Pakistan’s interior minister says al-Qaida and the Taliban were responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
The Pakistani official tells the Associated Press that investigators have resolved the “whole mystery” behind the assassination. He says details will come at a press conference later [...]
