Olympic Open Thread

Published by at 6:28 am under All General Discussions

I doubt if I will be posting continuously about the Olympics, but feel free to knock yourselves out debating them here. Maybe we can all find common ground to agree on?

I will say Micheal Phelps is a swimming machine, his performance in the IM was awesome.

The women’s 400 IM was even more ridiculous: two women break the World’s Record in the final, and neither of them was the current WR holder? That’s nuts.

I hope Phelps does get the 8 golds – he seems like a really good kid.

And what should be the over/under on positive Chinese drug tests? 5? 7?

Ummm… wow. The 4×100 men’s freestyle relay ending was… the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. I used to swim competitively when I was younger (one of the reasons I wanted to be a SEAL), and I’ve never seen anyone close half-a-bodylength in a freestyle race in less than 25 meters, with competitors anywhere near this level.

And I’m sure there are people on this blog that are enjoying the “make the arrogant Frenchman shut his piehole” angle even more than me. 🙂

Actually I kind of like and respect the French. Stereotypes are often off base.

The women’s softball team is really good. They keep threatening to get rid of the event. I am glad they have not, those women are really something to watch.

The entire swim team is great.
