Obama Admits His Reps Talked To Team Blagojevich

Obama has admitted two things today regarding the spreading scandal engulfing Governor Rod Blagojevich:

  1. Team Obama did have contact with Team Blagojevich recently, and
  2. Obama is not making a firm denial of wrong doing. Instead he is expressing ‘confidence’ there was no wrong doing.

While the liberal rags (thank god these dinosaurs are facing financial extinction) keep trying to spin the fact Obama did not participate directly in discussions, we know members of the team are the responsibility of the team leader (thus Bush is responsible for Libby, etc). What is important is how the teams communicated, not what Obama said directly to Blagojevich.

Here is the stunning admission just coming out now:

Obama said he had never spoken to Blagojevich about the vacancy and was confident that none of his representatives would have any involvement in any scheme. Obama said he has asked his team to gather facts about any contacts to share over the next few days.

“Share”?  Odd choice of words (it is not a quote). The title of this little piece is “Obama says no contact with Blagojevich” – more Clintonesque parsing of words to hide the sad truth. It really must be bad for this word smything to be starting so soon.

Here is another ‘version’ of Obama’s tap dance recital this morning:

“I have never spoken to the governor on this subject,” Obama said, adding that he has asked his staff to collect the facts about their contact with Blagojevich on the matter.

What “subject” are we discussing here? Did anyone from the lame-stream media follow up? I did find this tidbit interesting:

Obama said neither he nor his staff had been contacted by federal officials in connection with the probe.

I wonder why they have not been contacted? Jesse Jackson, Jr has been given the opportunity to work with authorities. Why is his staff not collecting information for the Federal Investigation? This confirms the news Obama heard the news with the rest of America – an odd thing to do to a new President coming into office.

One would think the Feds would give them a heads up, or would check with Team Obama to make sure those DC advisors caught on the 2 hour conference call were not part of, or connected to, Team Obama. Seems sort of obvious. Unless the Feds know the answer already.

I suspect we might be seeing a lot more tap dancing and finger wagging before January.

Update: Finally found actual quotes instead of news media translations (a.k.a. spin):

“I had no contact with the governor’s office. I did not speak to the governor about these issues. That I know for certain.”

OK, what about aids and emissaries and intermediaries?

In response to a reporter’s question, Obama said, “What I’m absolutely certain about is that our office had no involvement in any deal-making …That would be a violation of everything this campaign has been about.”

What ‘office’ are you referring to Senator? Again, an odd choice of words.

I have asked  my team to  gather the facts of any contacts” with the governor, Obama said, adding he will share that information with the public in the coming days.

What is the difference between ‘office’ and ‘team’? As we can see the news media story is not clear, despite the glaring headlines to the contrary. Can’t wait to see the video (and all the hesitation and stuttering).

Lovely dancer, going to get a lot of workout.

…. And we are just getting started.

Has anyone asked Fitz why the investigation was closed down as soon as it was? Why not wait until the senate seat is in fact sold? Maybe things were getting a little”out of hand”. That is, too close to Hussein or his staff getting too much involved. Better to close it down before Fitz has to arrest Hussein, huh?

  3. Mike M. says:

I can see Fitz being scared spitless about being accused of making an accusation in order to throw the election (and I would give long odds that had this broken five weeks ago, we would now be talking about President-elect McCain).

This is going to get VERY interesting…particularly since it provides a tremendous amount of defensive firepower against any attempt to impose the Unfairness Doctrine. That particular nightmare is now dead in the water. And the credibility of the propaganda press is sinking rapidly.

Translated our authorized or not proxies are doing the dirty work and I can claim plausible deniability.

They knew what I wanted and it is no accident Jarrett had her name pulled.

But still he tries to sell it and his Obots will lap it up.

With all the revisions we get from that camp they need to get Maxwell Smart for a spokes person.

    Would you believe…..

    Oldpuppymax,

Byron York may have answered your question about why the investigation was stopped short:

The dealing seemed very close to a climax — and an explosive political scandal. And then, on the morning of December 5, the Chicago Tribune ran a story on its front page reporting that law enforcement had secretly recorded Blagojevich’s conversations as part of a criminal investigation. Blagojevich immediately instructed Fundraiser A to “undo” the plan to meet personally with the associate of Candidate Five. Blagojevich instead turned his energy to preparing his legal defense. The deal was off, blown, apparently, by the Tribune’s report.

U.S. District Court Complaint/FBI affidavit posted on “The Smoking Gun”
December 9, 2008 (filing date) | FBI criminal complaint

Posted on Thursday, December 11, 2008 10:22:40 AM by truthkeeper

The sworn affidavit by FBI Agent Daniel Cain, starting at page 54, is posted at this site. It does not appear that the previous pages can be accessed, but you can click on the “Next” tabs to the right of the text.

Click on the tabs to get to the pertinent pages 62-66, paragraphs 101 – 103, to read the summaries of a crucial November 10, 2008 2-hour phone call between Blagojevich, his wife, his General Counsel John Harris, and “various Washington D.C.-based advisors,” including “Advisor B.” (“The Smoking Gun” states “Additionally, Rahm Emanuel, the incoming White House chief of staff, is referred to in the affidavit as “President-elect Advisor.”)

I also found paragraph 102 to be particularly interesting. For those who don’t have the time to access the link, a portion reads as follows:

“Later on November 10, 2008, Rod Blagojevich and Advisor A discussed the open Senate seat. Among other things, Rod Blagojevich raised the issue of whether the President-Elect could help get Rod Blagojevich’s wife on “paid corporate boards right now.” Advisor A responded that he “think(s) they could” and that a “President-Elect…can do almost anything he sets his mind to do.”

(Excerpt) Read more at thesmokinggun.com …

(Frogg note: I just read a bunch of pages on the Smoking Gun site…..and, now I feel like I need to be scrubbed down with soap. Sickening stuff.)

  8. Frogg says:

PS. Page 68 para 107 from that Smoking Gun link above was ineresting because it talks about Advisor B prefering one option over another because “from the President elect’s perspective there would be fewer fingerprints of the President elect’s involvement”……

I’m just creeped out by all of this crap. Sick, sick, sick.

  9. Frogg says:

Obama, according to Advisor B, one of Blagojevich’s advisors cited on page 68 of the complaint, wanted to avoid any “fingerprints” in any arrangement made with Blagojevich. And Blagojevich, according to page 57 of the complaint, sought to “conduct indirectly … a negotiation” with Obama. Nothing could be in writing, and everything must be indirect: this is why Obama’s attempt to appear transparent with a release of all direct communications with Blagojevich’s office is irrelevant.

I started checking in on Hillbuzz blog during the election. I still find a lot of news there:

FOX Chicago is reporting that Rahm Emanuel had multiple conversations with Rod Blagojevich about a list of people Obama wanted named as his Senate replacement. Obama is lying about his staff’s role in all of this.
    http://hillbuzz.wordpress.com/2008/12/12/fox-chicago-is-reporting-that-rahm-emanuel-had-multiple-conversations-with-rod-blagojevich-about-a-list-of-people-obama-wanted-named-as-his-senate-replacement-obama-is-lying-about-his-staffs-role-i/

The Fox Chicago video of this report says that sources have told them that there were numerous conversations between Rahm Emanuel and Blagojevich and the FBI did tape them.

and, then there is this bit of history:

Obama had his own Pay-to-Play schemes in Illinois. Look into the $75,000 FORUM grant he gave to Yesse Yehudah in 2001.

  11. MerlinOS2 says:

As other blogs have pointed out , Obama is still playing games here.

He is going to go back and look at contacts with the office.

    That is NOT enough.

He needs to look for any third party proxies doing an end around here.

Think SEIU and Anna Burger big time.

  12. […] Here is the lie, which caught my eye because of the phrasing Obama was using during his press conference on Daschle’s appointment: “I had no contact with the governor’s office. I did not speak to the governor about these issues. That I know for certain.” […]

  13. VA Voter says:

Obama is a mell of a hess. If the actually does what he says he will do by finding out who said what to whom, he must disclose any evidence of wrongdoing, if he doesn’t he potentially becomes a part of a criminal conspiracy if he is knowledgable of the wrongdoing.

Any members of his staff that talk to each other potentially become conspirators themselves by trying to influence witnesses and develop a ‘common’ story. Ask OJ how well this worked in his recent conviction.

    This is delicious, very delicious.

  14. […] begs the question of why Obama lied to the nation in his first press interview on the matter, to wit: “I had no contact with the governor’s office. I did not speak to the governor about these […]

  15. Annet says:

Obama has lots of supporters and numerous queries with his name at http://avilib.com/ prove that it is not goos to become his enemy…

  16. whitX says:

It doesn’t make sense when all they have to say is deny the fact they had talked about or exchanged idea regarding this issue. Blagojevich Obama subpoena is something to look out for. Rumor goes that Blagojevich tries to sell the senate empty seat without the President’s recognition but it was said that his camp had communicated. Just open up what exactly is it that they are about by having reps talk to the other camp. But the fact that the President is being subpoenaed he just have to go to that commitment and get over it.
