I Wish You Well President Obama, The Nation Rejoices A Barrier Finally Destroyed

Published by at 12:03 pm under All General Discussions

We seat a new President today – our President. And we can finally close a chapter on the racial divides that split this nation from its inception. Our lofty goals for humanity were always deeply and morally flawed with the support of slavery and its aftermath of racism. We can finally say we have arrived.

As the above picture illustrates the nation is in an incredibly celebratory mood. The crowds are huge – the smiles broad, the pride busting out. There are high hopes for our new President, and I for one hope he can succeed. Unlike some right wing whack jobs who are hoping he fails, I am still an American first. In fact, the tired conservatives better take a long hard look at what they threw away in their quest for purity. President Obama comes into power with massive support and with his party in firm control of both houses of Congress.

This is no accident. It is the will of the people who have rejected whatever poisoned brew this latest crop of ‘true conservatives’ are dishing out. Hate, anger and hoping Obama fails are recipes for decades of wandering out of power again. Conservative values, to a moderate level, are very positive and very good for this nation. It is why Democrats now adorn their policies with elements of conservative thinking (like low taxes, accountability and strong defense).

But conservative intolerance, fear mongering and degradation of fellow Americans on whims of zealotry are not positive and inspiring messages. The story of Barack Obama is an inspiring story. Sneer at it and you will find a proud nation giving you a well deserved finger back in your face. Obama is not my choice and I fear his liberal tendencies will undo a lot of good work.

I will guide him through support. I will try and blunt his liberal instincts and explain how conservative thinking is not bad, just some conservative thinkers. I will challenge him and disagree with him. But I will support the President of The United States. That’s what makes this country great. And that is what so many of us demanded for the outgoing President Bush, and many fell short there as well. How could anyone do any less?

Do unto others ….

Update: I listened to President Obama’s speech and I still don’t connect with him. Ce’ la vie. He recognizes the challenges, the delayed hard choices. He is seriously naive to think partisanship is over, as he claimed. How many times have I seen these fanciful visions from incoming neophytes? Debates will continue. We must concur with the path forward. He will need to reach out to the center and let down the far left.

He seemed a bit preachy, and his speech was filled with vacuous sound bites. But it is still an incredible moment, and he can learn if he wants to. Hopefully, those of us who have noted his inexperience are wrong and he will grow quickly to meet our challenges. Here is hoping that a miracle occurs.

Welcome to DC President Obama, you will soon learn why this place sucks he life blood out of people. Instead of trying to change America, you would do better to try and change DC and the halls of power. Only then can we make dramatic changes in our country’s direction.

Update: I hope everyone is noting the theme that we all need to sacrifice – that includes liberals and their dreams of endless wasteful government spending.

Update: OK, he flubbed the oath, the nation and his administration is still standing. Geez!

Update: Oh God no – not another administration of Juvenile Delinquents! Rahm Emmanuel, Obama Chief of Staff, caught for all prosperity on this historic day (H/T Drugde):

Update: Even more 3rd grade antics from the looney left as they mock PRESIDENT Bush. Why do these people ruin President Obama’s moment with these idiotic stunts? I mean really, this is not all about them! Talk about a ‘look at me’ complex. If this is how they start off we are in for a rough 4 years and the Dems will not hold power very long. Is 2010 the next 1994?

And this is how Obama claims his party is “Ready To Lead”? What a sad joke.

“That briefing had no actionable intelligence in it that would have prevented 9/11.”

And I still would have preferred a response stronger than “Okay, you’ve covered your ass now” from the man elected to protect us from terrorists.

And had there been any such response, you and your sputniki would’ve thrown a hissy fit over the inconveniences imposed on travelers and “violations of terrorists’ civil rights.”

I love how adult everyone is on this site. And I love how every debate turns personal when someone gets frustrated. You guys crack me up.

but the levels of adulthood is improving, GuyF has now advanced to the 3rd grade so it’s likely his brain will start growing soon.

Thanks GuyF. You made my day. You understood what I said.

    (sorry DJ, that was personal).

    Guy,
As a believer in Keynesian economics, test it against:

I hadn’t seen that study before – I wasn’t reading economic blogs in 2004. But, thanks to Google, it didn’t take too long to find historians and economicists who tear it to pieces:

I’m sure we could do this all day. But the fact remains, the stimulus bill is going to have about $550B in spending, and about $275B in tax cuts, whether you believe in Keynesian economics or not. I suppose we’ll find out who’s right in a year or two.

    Guy,
    Touche!
Hope we won’t do the experiment.

As far as I am concerned that picture of Rahm Emmanuel said it all. The left has gone crazy. It is the height of irony that this guy who probably has committed untold crimes can diss an outgoing president in this manner. I’ll bet Bush couldn’t wait to shake the dust of Washington off his feet. I’ll bet he feels he has done his duty and can leave all the trash in charge in Washington. I know I would. Emmanuel was just more blatant than Obama when he gave the finger to Palin and Clinton but make no mistake they are two of a kind.

These are the kind of people the GOP is up against for the next four years or more and they still don’t get it. The republicans need to get off their as**s and elect as head of the party someone who can take on these creatures with dignity but pizazz. I am thinking the repulbicans in the senate confirmed all these cabinet positions because the next ones might be more repulsive. That was probably Obama’s game plan.

I for one will not give this guy a pass. I will applaud him when he does the right thing and diss him when he does the wrong thing. Let’s start with Guantanomo. What is he going to do with these thugs? Their own countries won’t take them back and we can’t send them to a country to be tortured. How about putting them in our prisons? Of course, the guards will be murdered within days. If the military has difficulty with them how does Obama think security guards who are police wannabes will do better? I doubt the police itself could survive.

The transition went smoothly and George and Laura Bush were everything gracious and helpful to the Obamas unlike the transition between Bush and Clinton. But the Obamas are the new democrats. Obama couldn’t let Bush go home with any good will. No, he had to diss him along with the crowd around him. He will be blaming Bush for all his (Obama’s) mistakes for the next four years mark my words.

I do not have words to express the vitrolic hatred I feel for the democrats. And no, this guy was not elected by the people. He was elected by people who have never voted before and probably never will again. Bums on park benches and others who had no idea what Obama’s position was on any subject. The same people who watch the “iew” abnnd American Idol” and Ssaturday Night Live. How could they know his positions when the whole world doesn’t know his position either. They voted for him because he is black. If he was white he would have been laughed out of the election early on.

Obama flubbed the oath. Joel Klein said in his artlicle Roberts flubbed and Obama graciously allowed him to repeat that part of the oath. What garbage. Rewriting history. He was sworn in the next day again. What bible did he use this time? The Koran?

And don’t run away with the idea that I am an evangelical Christian. I am not. I am a person who loves this country and the freedom we all enjoy. I fear with Obama in office that will all come to an end. He will certainly try.

    BarbaraS:

Wow. You have some anger issues. You should do something about that.

“How about putting them in our prisons? Of course, the guards will be murdered within days.”

Wait – what? Do you think we have 254 super-villians in Gitmo? Do you think we’re holding Dr. Doom and Lex Luthor down there? In case you haven’t noticed, we have a whole lot of vicious thugs, murderers, and psychopaths in our prisons now, and somehow we manage to keep them locked up pretty well.

“And don’t run away with the idea that I am an evangelical Christian. I am not.”

Well, that’s pretty obvious – no one who truly followed the teachings of Jesus could ever feel “vitrolic [sic] hatred” for half of the country.

You are probably the last person in the world whose opinion I would care about. But then you are doing your usual. Twisting my anger about what I fear will happen into something else. What I said above is true. You are too dense to realize it. I am not going to defend or explain what I said to you mainly because I feel you get your jollies from having republicans earnestly trying set you straight with facts. That would be like beating my head against a brick wall. I will say this, though, there is between democrats and terrorists the same mind play. As the Dalai Lama said “terrorists have closed minds”. Well, so do democrats. And what is this new ploy? Acting like you are being so reasonable and level-headed when everybody else is doing crazy talk? Quite a change from name calling and slurs on our intelligence.

  12. GuyFawkes says:

What can I say – I’m a man of many talents.

And yes, I would rather enjoy “having republicans earnestly trying set [me] straight with facts” – I hope to eventually see even a single one from you. I do enjoy it when some of the more level-headed commenters here (Terrye, kathie, and the like) actually try to have an meaningful debate on the topic. It makes for a nice break from people like Redteam, etc. who seem to have only two messages: “I’m right and you’re wrong, because I say so, that’s why!”, and “Republican = good, Democrat = bad”.

I just don’t understand how you can declare a hatred for someone based on nothing more than their voting record. Myself, I tend to save my hatred for those that truly deserve it – like Al Qaeda. The fact that you seem to think of the terrorists and half of your fellow Americans as practically the same thing shows a real lack of perspective on your part.

  13. BarbaraS says:

What is this? Divide and conquer? I say what I say about democrats because they and you by definition have aided the terrorists for the last 7 years with their “we have lost this war”, “we can’t win this war” crap. I go by the words of the leaders of your party…Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and now Barack Obama. Look back at everything these democrats have publicly said for the past 7 years and trashing a man who has done his best to protect this country all in the name of politics. And just look at the way they treated him at this inauguration.

  14. BarbaraS says:

And BTW look at the accompanying picture of Rahm Emmanuel. Take a gander at an “adult” of your party. As I said before this photo says it all about the democrat party.. And before you in your ultra reasonable “new” tone say it is just one democrat understand that this is the new chief of staff of your boy’s administration. You know, the one who decides who sees the president.

  15. GuyFawkes says:

    BarbaraS:

Soooo… Emmanual’s action is the ultimate sign of juvenile behavior? Anyone who does it should never be taken seriously?

    Okay… Karl Rove, everyone!

I swear, sometimes it’s like you all are begging me to make you look dumb.

  16. GuyFawkes says:

    No response?

    Shocking.

Let me ask you a question. Did you use the pseudoym Mark Davis on Flopping Aces a few weeks ago perporting to be the son of Frank Marshall Davis and on a crusade to disprove the allegation that Frank Marshall Davis was a communist? Curiously, he disappeared when his alleged father was exposed by self confession as a pedophile. I am asking because your tone and arrogance mirrors this guy so closely you might as well be twins. His attitude, like yours, is that everyone else is stupid and you are calm, levelheaded and smarter by far. If we would all come around to your way of thinking we too would see the light.

This is the last time I will engage you. As I have said before democrats, liberals, progressives or whatever you want to call them have closed minds and a superior attitudes. It is useless to debate you when my side deals in facts and history and your side deals with emotion and feelings of the moment.

And as to the “no response” schlick. What do you think I do? Stay on this site at all times just waiting for your “pearls of wisdom”?

  18. BarbaraS says:

Oh, and one caveat. Emmanuel’s action was not unusual. The democrats have been giving republicans the finger for some time now. The cases you mentioned WERE unusual. It is understandable when republicans sometimes fight back but the truth of the matter is democrats use these tactics all the time. I don’t condone these actions nor approve of them. But it is only now when yours and their boy is president that you and they see the other side of the coin hence all this talk of “let’s all get along”. Where has this idea been for the last 8 years of name calling and obsenities? Please don’t try to fool us with your newly hatched good feelings for your fellow Americans. You will definitely catch cold with that. We got your number a long time ago.

“Did you use the pseudoym Mark Davis on Flopping Aces a few weeks ago perporting to be the son of Frank Marshall Davis and on a crusade to disprove the allegation that Frank Marshall Davis was a communist?”

Well, that’s definitely the first time I’ve ever been asked that. Or anything like that.

But, sadly, the answer is no – I’ve never been to Flopping Aces (are they the site that likes to put up pictures of flaming skulls and the like whenever they have a “BREAKING” story? I think I’ve seen them parodied at Sadly, No!).

I find the fact that you all seem to think there is only one person doing all of the lefty comments on right-wing blogs somewhat amusing. Thousands of people comment at Daily Kos and Huff Post and Salon every day – do you think all of THOSE people are just the same guy too, with a whole lot of free time on his hands?
