Tenet & Impeachment

Published by at 12:35 pm under All General Discussions

I mentioned earlier Tenet and his book and his PR swing through the Liberal media was all foreshadowing his role as a key witness in the Cheney/Bush impeachment hearings. And now we have the Congressional Invitation to seal the deal. Watch and learn how DC Democrats think (or “don’t think” to be more precise). Impeachment hearings in Waxman’s committee (and probably Conyers’ as well) may begin in September. if not sooner. It may depend on how Iraq is going. Sadly, the better Iraq goes the more the Dems will need impeachment to save their butts.

Better order another case of popcorn. Gonna be an entertaining year.

Spook and I agree on that – a VERY entertaining year. Just picked up a couple cases of Fat Tire.

My understanding is that Tenet likes Bush and is really very generous toward him in his book. It is Cheney he does not like. I wonder if he will talk about the years he was CIA director for Clinton. I realize that Clinton has already been impeached, but it would seem to me that if the information he came up with in the Bush administration was wrong, then the same information he was feeding Clinton would likewise be wrong.

As usual the Democrats will avoid any responsibility for their own mistakes.

There’s that big long “I”-word again.

Somehow I don’t think the public at large is going to be much happier about impeachment this time than they were nine years ago. I also imagine a large number of people scratching their heads and going “Why impeach now? Won’t Bush and Cheney be outta there in a year and a half or so anyway???”

But if the Dems want to go on this witchhunt as if there weren’t anything else going on in the world, let ’em.

These people are so stupid. If they get the presidency, gut all the Bush initiatives, and we are hit with a dirty bomb, then what? They are political fools of the greatest magnitude.

Sooth! we agree on something (Fat Tire)!

  7. Disputing George Tenet (UPDATED: CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS ON TENET’S BOOK)…

Lots of buzz in the media today about the release of former CIA director George Tenet’s new book At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA, which came out today.
I noted yesterday that Michael F. Scheuer, head of the CIA’s bin Laden …

snip/”Here is what Tenet told the relevant Senate committee in February 2002:

Iraq has also had contacts with al-Qaida. Their ties may be limited by divergent ideologies, but the two sides’ mutual antipathy toward the United States and the Saudi royal family suggests that tactical cooperation between them is possible, even though Saddam is well aware that such activity would carry serious consequences.

As even the notion of it certainly should have done. At around the same time, on another nontrivial matter, Tenet informed the Senate armed services committee that: “We believe that Saddam never abandoned his nuclear weapons program.” It is a little bit late for him to pose as if Iraq was a threat concocted in some crepuscular corner of the vice president’s office. And it’s pathetic for him to say, even in the feeble way that he chooses to phrase it, that “there was never a serious debate that I know of within the administration about the imminence of the Iraqi threat.” (Emphasis added.) There had been a very serious debate over the course of at least three preceding administrations, whether Tenet “knew” of it or not. (He was only an intelligence specialist, after all.) “
