It is amazing how those who do  not learn form history end up repeating it – in all it glorious stupidity. We are at the cusp of a decision for mankind: do we kneel in homage to man-made gods who supposedly wish to punish mankind, or do we remain modern humans who work to unlock the secrets of nature with humility and wisdom, to discover how the universe was created and our role in the grand theatre of reality. I have spent my life in pursuit of the latter, ignoring the former unless they became a threat or risk to others.

Now, on too many fronts, the mob-think of the left and right fringes has become a very disturbing threat to scientific exploration and understanding, replacing science with cults that pretend to be science.

Many charlatans put on the costume of science to pretend they are equals to those who truly explore the universe without bias or agendas. Too many people want to be right, not be educated. It is a fatal character flaw which distinguishes a scientists from a variety of poseurs who are on a different mission than discovery. On the right we see this with the Creationists who cannot face the realities of biology and evolution. Instead the create complex fantasy worlds to hide within – which is fine until they try and impose this nonsense on others. You want to believe there is no DNA, no evolution? Home school – don’t waste our tax money on these cult concepts.

Sadly, the far left is even more prone to science-spoofing cult. Embryos are not human beings to these science misfits – even though the commonly accepted DNA tests used in courts across this country prove beyond any doubt the embryo is a distinct human being from the mother or father, and are definitely the species Homo Sapiens.

There other whale of a fiction tale is global warming. And right now these cultists are about to rob each and everyone of us for using lights, watching TV, listening to the radio, eating food, warming/cooling our houses, driving cars, consuming goods – heck for being alive! – in all in the name of the global warming cult. It is time this country dumped these charlatans and woke up to the fact we are being duped through fear mongering predictions which have never come true – not even close.

The fact this entire global warming Chicken Little dance may be nothing but a scam promulgated by the incompetent or corrupt is starting to spread through out America. Check out this recent Gallup Poll:

While this is a good trend, we need to wake up more of our deluded neighbors before we all get fleeced by the cultists who want us to pay tribute to the climate gods. There have been more and more scientists coming out to challenge the cult of Al Gore/IPCC. There was even a recent gathering of these folks in New York City recently. Unlike Al Gore whose only gift is his ability to exaggerate more than anyone else on the planet, these people were scientists with hard core data and evidence. While the global warming cult thrives in the liberal news media, it is time to unmask the charlatans with cold hard facts – before we see our current economic crisis deepen with the instantiation of “Cap & Trade” (a.k.a.,, the old-time hucksters “shell game”).

Recently Congress got a dash of cold water in the testimony of one William Happer. His historical perspectives were both insightful and damning. First the damning ones:

But the climate is warming and CO2 is increasing. Doesn’t this prove that CO2 is causing global warming through the greenhouse effect? No, the current warming period began about 1800 at the end of the little ice age, long before there was an appreciable increase of CO2. There have been similar and even larger warmings several times in the 10,000 years since the end of the last ice age. These earlier warmings clearly had nothing to do with the combustion of fossil fuels. The current warming also seems to be due mostly to natural causes, not to increasing levels of carbon dioxide. Over the past ten years there has been no global warming, and in fact a slight cooling. This is not at all what was predicted by the IPCC models.

The climate has changed many times in the past with no help by mankind. Recall that the Romans grew grapes in Britain around the year 100, and Viking settlers prospered on small farms in Greenland for several centuries during the Medieval Climate Optimum around 1100. People have had an urge to control the climate throughout history so I suppose it is no surprise that we are at it again today. For example, in June of 1644, the Bishop of Geneva led a flock of believers to the face of a glacier that was advancing “by over a musket shot” every day. The glacier would soon destroy a village. The Bishop and his flock prayed over the glacier, and it is said to have stopped. The poor Vikings had long since abandoned Greenland where the advancing glaciers and cooling climate proved much less susceptible to prayer. Sometimes the obsession for control of the climate got a bit out of hand, as in the Aztec state, where the local scientific/religious establishment of the year 1500 had long since announced that the debate was over and that at least 20,000 human sacrifices a year were needed to keep the sun moving, the rain falling, and to stop climate change. The widespread dissatisfaction of the people who were unfortunate enough to be the source of these sacrifices played an important part in the success of the Spanish conquest of Mexico.

Let me diverge for a moment because this is a theme which is gaining traction, especially when one looks at the impact of the Cap & Trade shell game on any hope for economic recovery in the near future. Cap & Trade is not only a convenient lie to line the pockets of the High Priests of the Church of Al Gore/IPCC, it is a death knell to any economic recovery. In other words, the modern day tribute to the climate Gods will be lives forever ruined, potential forever lost. Just his week Michael Barone noted this bizarre nature of the Cap & Trade proposals by the liberals in DC:

The same cannot be said of cap-and-trade. It would take some $600 billion out of the private sector economy in order to avoid an environmental crisis that is supposed to arrive in — oh, some time around 2055. In other words, we are not dealing with here-and-now facts, as we are in the financial crisis, but with predictions based on theories … theories that have not done a very good job of predicting the climate over the last decade (they said it would get warmer; it’s gotten a little colder). Theories that do not retrospectively explain climactic variations in the past.

We are dealing here with something more like religion and less like science. We are told that all argument about global warming must end. We must have faith! But it is religion that asks us to have faith; science presents us with theories that can be tested by observation and produce replicable results — and the results for 2055 aren’t in.

We are told that we must repent of our misdeeds, for driving SUVs or (unless you’re Al Gore or a Hollywood liberal) flying in private jets. And we are told that we must atone for our sins, by paying more for every bit of energy we use and remembering to recycle.

It is religion that asks for repentance and offers rituals for atonement; science suggests ways we can adapt and cope with change.

Yes, to deny the mounting mountain of data that undermines the global warming theories (e.g., they have never once predicted anything right) means that believers are now a cult. Here are the insightful bits of information William Happer explained to anyone in Congress who wants to discovery reality instead of believe in the cult of Al Gore/IPCC:

The earth’s climate really is strongly affected by the greenhouse effect, although the physics is not the same as that which makes real, glassed-in greenhouses work. Without greenhouse warming, the earth would be much too cold to sustain its current abundance of life. However, at least 90% of greenhouse warming is due to water vapor and clouds. Carbon dioxide is a bit player.

Since most of the greenhouse effect for the earth is due to water vapor and clouds, added CO2 must substantially increase water’s contribution to lead to the frightening scenarios that are bandied about. The buzz word here is that there is “positive feedback.” With each passing year, experimental observations further undermine the claim of a large positive feedback from water. In fact, observations suggest that the feedback is close to zero and may even be negative. That is, water vapor and clouds may actually diminish the already small global warming expected from CO2, not amplify it. 

Check out this analogy for the influence of CO2 on global warming:

Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels may have “soared” from 280 ppm to 385 ppm over the last century. But this represents an almost trivial rise from 0.03% of the atmosphere to 0.04% – the equivalent of an increase from 3 cents to 4 out of $100, or from 1.08 inches to 1.44 inches on a football field. The dominant greenhouse gas is water vapor, which nature controls via evaporation and precipitation.

This is why so many people think CO2 levels are a RESULT of warming, not the cause. That fraction of CO2 in the air simply cannot compete with the water vapor, which dominates the processes. Its like trying to throw a dixie cup of water onto a house fire.

Now the question is are the cultist naive or lying. One can found more evidence for either conclusion than for global warming itself. Given the huge monetary windfall that will befall the Church of Al Gore/IPCC and its High Priests, one cannot ignore the idea that the false data is an attempt to get rich under a corrupt scheme of fear mongering. Naiveté can only explain so much.

So, were these faults in the IPCC data accidental or not?

The existence of climate variability in the past has long been an embarrassment to those who claim that all climate change is due to man and that man can control it. When I was a schoolboy, my textbooks on earth science showed a prominent “medieval warm period” at the time the Vikings settled Greenland, followed by a vicious “little ice age” that drove them out. So I was very surprised when I first saw the celebrated “hockey stick curve,” in the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC. I could hardly believe my eyes. Both the little ice age and the Medieval Warm Period were gone, and the newly revised temperature of the world since the year 1000 had suddenly become absolutely flat until the last hundred years when it shot up like the blade on a hockey stick. 

This data has, as people should know, has been deemed complete garbage. The Hockey Stick graph which predicted we would be in the middle of a run away global heat wave right now (instead of the decade of cooling we have been in) was paraded like words from the global warming gods directly. It was interpreted to mean mankind must pay for its sins against Mother Earth. It was false.

Al Gore likes to display graphs of temperature and CO2 concentrations over the past million years or so, showing that when CO2 rises, the temperature also rises. Doesn’t this prove that the temperature is driven by CO2? Absolutely not! If you look carefully at these records, you find that first the temperature goes up, and then the CO2 concentration of the atmosphere goes up. There is a delay between a temperature increase and a CO2 increase of about 800 years. This casts serious doubt on CO2 as a climate driver because of the fundamental concept of causality.

Al Gore seems to only speak the language of forked tongue these days – everything he spews is a deliberately crafted false hood.

Well, now even more evidence has come out that the Cult of Al Gore/IPCC is cooking the books, posting false and inaccurate data so that they can make claim the world is about to end and humanity needs to pay them tribute for their sins. They will make sure the Gods get their tribute payments, of course. It is now becoming evident that IPCC data was altered to cover up the Sun’s role in the recent decade of warming! Here is a report that hinted at the cover up, and how bad satellite data was selected over good data to produce the desired answer. If I may, I would like to quote some of these heretics to the cult of Al Gore/IPCC and relay what they discovered in laymen’s terms:

The authors [Lockwood, Frohlich] of a newly published paper on the role of the sun’s variability on global temperatures overstate their case that there has been no impact of solar variations on the earth’s temperature history during the past several decades. [These are the false claims from IPCC]

…

For instance, in a series of papers published within the past two years, researchers Scafetta and West have concluded that the solar variations may have been responsible for 10 to 30 percent of the observed global surface temperature increase from 1980‐2002. [This is the new analysis which discovered the ‘bad’ data]

First we visit the cultists and their conclusions, which interestingly admit the sun was the dominate factor on global climate, until just the last few decades!

In their abstract, the authors [Lockwood, Frohlich]  noted “There is considerable evidence for solar influence on the Earth’s pre‐industrial climate and the Sun may well have been a factor in post‐industrial climate change in the first half of the last century. Here we show that over the past 20 years, all the trends in the Sun that could have had an influence on the Earth’s climate have been in the opposite direction to that required to explain the observed rise in global mean temperatures.”

Now we get the truth, years later:

His [Frohlich’s] composite , the so‐called ‘PMOD’ model, modifies the published results of the Nimbus7/ERB and ACRIM1 science teams to provide better agreement with the predictions of a statistical model by Judith Lean based on linear regressions against solar emission and absorption line proxies for TSI [Total Solar Irradiance].

To learn more about this I went to Dr. Richard Willson of Columbia University, the Principal Investigator for the series of NASA ACRIM projects, designed to provide high precision monitoring of TSI and detect variations of significance for climate change and solar physics.

Construction of a TSI composite time series stretching over the past, nearly three decades of satellite observations, requires connecting the results of the ACRIM1 and ACRIM2 TSI monitoring experiments across the two year ‘ACRIM gap’ between them. Two, relatively low precision satellite experiments measured TSI during the gap: the Nimbus7/ERB and the ERBS/ERBE.

Translation: The ACRIM instruments (1 and 2) flew on two different spacecraft and had a 2 year gap when they were not on orbit taking data. To bridge this gap there are only two options, one of which doesn’t support the cult of Al Gore/IPCC:

The Nimbus7/ERB ‘gap’ connection produces a significant upward solar trend … The ERBS/ERBE connection produces a multidecadal TSI composite without a significant trend. ERBS/ERBE results are by far the least reliable of the two ‘gap’ experiments and their difference from the Nimbus7/ERB results during the ‘gap’ is readily shown to be uncorrected sensor degradation.

 

Is it simply coincidence that the one data set that fits the global warming alarmists predictions was used to cover up the sun’s role in the previous decades of global warming? How lucky do you have to be to pick the data that came from the one aging and failing sensor which – clearly – missed the increase in solar activity? How convenient is that!

Could these people simply be attracted to data that makes them right? Of course, which also means they are not true scientists. The global warming cult has been out trying to find evidence they are right, and excuses as to why their predictions are horribly wrong. If they were in charge of landing a commercial airline full of people with their predictions we would be losing millions of people a day to their errors.

In fact, let me use data to slay one more of the cultists myths. That is the myth that the Evil God of Hurricanes has been freed from is restraints by humanities indulgence in CO2 production. Under this myth the Hurricane God is now going to rampage across the Earth, killing and destroying humanity for their sins. This myth has been handed down amongst the cultists from the Highest of the High Priests – Al Gore himself:

There are scientific warnings now of another onrushing catastrophe. We were warned of an imminent attack by Al Qaeda; we didn’t respond. We were warned the levees would break in New Orleans; we didn’t respond. Now, the scientific community is warning us that the average hurricane will continue to get stronger because of global warming. A scientist at MIT has published a study well before this tragedy showing that since the 1970s, hurricanes in both the Atlantic and the Pacific have increased in duration, and in intensity, by about 50 %. The newscasters told us after Hurricane Katrina went over the southern tip of Florida that there was a particular danger for the Gulf Coast of the hurricanes becoming much stronger because it was passing over unusually warm waters in the gulf. The waters in the gulf have been unusually warm. The oceans generally have been getting warmer. And the pattern is exactly consistent with what scientists have predicted for twenty years. Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long-since a consensus that we will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming. [applause] It is important to learn the lessons of what happens when scientific evidence and clear authoritative warnings are ignored in order to induce our leaders not to do it again and not to ignore the scientists again and not to leave us unprotected in the face of those threats that are facing us right now. [applause]

Wow, Al Gore knows how to do the Chicken Little dance like no other. This was in 2005, 6 years into the current global cooling trend (in which Katrina happened as well). Now we have 30 years of data to look at, and it is not going support the cult of Al Gore/IPCC and their alarmists fantasies:

Tropical cyclone (TC) activity worldwide has completely and utterly collapsed during the past 2 to 3 years with TC energy levels sinking to levels not seen since the late 1970s.

As previously reported here and here at Climate Audit, and chronicled at my Florida State Global Hurricane Update page, both Northern Hemisphere and overall Global hurricane activity has continued to sink to levels not seen since the 1970s. Even more astounding, when the Southern Hemisphere hurricane data is analyzed to create a global value, we see that Global Hurricane Energy has sunk to 30-year lows, at the least.

During the past 2 years +, the Earth’s climate has cooled under the effects of a dramatic La Nina episode.

Yes, in complete opposition to the predictions from the cult of Al Gore/IPCC, the earth has been cooling. And the source seems to be the lower solar output. The same solar output that was covered up in the IPCC data to make it seem like CO2 could amplify its meager role in the green house processes of the Earth, is now on the way down in dramatic fashion. So as CO2 levels continue to rise, there is no impact on global temperatures.

The cult of Al Gore/IPCC and their Cap & Trade snake oil is a Ponzi scheme of epic proportions. America needs to come together and demand this theft is stopped and not even considered until the science is settled using the scientific method (not the cult/big brother approach now being employed). If we can stop one thing from being enacted the liberal cultists in DC it is this nonsense.
