LIberals Losing It Over Their Own Failures

Published by at 7:44 am under All General Discussions

The Narcissist’s Party is having an emotional breakdown today, in the persona of one Saint Roger Simon of Politico. In what has to be the most pathetic and insulting article I have ever seen out of the lame stream media, Saint Simon bemoans how good liberals need to shut up now and not speak the truth to the masses so the left can retain some limp grasp on political power. It is truly sick logic, from the demand for lying so power can be retained (hello Joseph Goebbels) to the self ordainment that the left is so pure in reason and thought this lying to the people is actually a virtue akin to ending slavery!

Let the fisking begin. We start with Simon’s basis for a call to lie, to let an injustice happen:

Q: Will Barack Obama be a one-term president?

A: Yes, he might last that long.

Honest to goodness, the man just does not get it. He might be forced to pull a Palin and resign before his first term is over. He could go off and write his memoirs and build his presidential library. (Both would be half-size, of course.)

All the handwringing to follow is because President Obama noted that the Ground Zero Mosque is partially protected under the constitution’s freedom of speech and religion clauses. I say ‘partially’ because the location of a mosque is not universally protected. You cannot build one on public property, memorial sites, in residentially zoned areas, etc. There are always reasonable limits, and then there is common sense. People don’t want a mosque at Ground Zero for reasonable reasons – because an arm if Islam snuffed out hundreds of lives there in a brutal and cruel act of terrorism. It would be similar to putting a stripper’s club or a clinic to reform child molesters across from an elementary school. Technically possibly, not a good idea.

What Simon cries out is for Obama to let the bigots win by keeping quiet on what he sees as a constitutional right. While he is over the top in viewing this only from a freedom of religion perspective (which is one sided), what he promotes in the name of the constitution is sad.

You have to stay on message, follow the polls, listen to your advisers (who are writing the message and taking the polls) and realize that when it comes to doing what is right versus doing what is expedient, you do what is expedient so that you can get reelected and do what is right in the second term. If at all possible. And it will help your legacy. And not endanger the election of others in your party. And not hurt the brand. Or upset people too much.

Truly pathetic. Here is Saint Roger’s priority – protect political power at all costs. Simon sadly believes this is all about the constitutional rights, so he should NOT be saying let the mob have its way so we can fight another day. That is cowardly. It gets worse:

It is a controversy Obama could have ducked (he had been doing so for weeks), but he finally decided he needed to lend his voice and the weight of the presidency to speaking out for what is right.

You could not put the conventional wisdom more clearly: It is far better for a president to do nothing than to choose a side. Even if the side he chooses is the right one from an ethical or moral perspective, it is a “blunder” politically because inevitably it will upset some people.

The problem for Obama is that he appears to have taken seriously all the “change” stuff he promised during his campaign. And he has been unable to make the transition from candidate to president.

The problem is not what he is saying, it is how he is presenting it. Our young, incompetent President is not getting the leadership thing, very few would disagree there. But Obama was not ‘right’, and neither is Saint Roger Simon. The Ground Zero Mosque is about respect for hallowed ground and some Muslims’ efforts to get in the face of the West. Move the mosque a few blocks and all is fine. But the backers of the mosque don’t want to move it, they want the political fall out, they want to create a backlash. The President should have addressed the ENTIRE issue and produced a face-saving solution if he was really up to the job he holds. He did not, and that was his mistake.

This thought never occurs to Saint Roger:

A candidate says, as Bobby Kennedy did, “Some men look at things the way they are and ask why? I dream of things that are not and ask why not?”

A president says: “What do the polls say?”

This is Saint Roger’s preferred answer. Sad, isn’t?

You can go back to the mid-1800s and find a lot of legislators saying that Abe Lincoln should stop lecturing people about ending slavery and listen to them about keeping it.

And there were plenty of lawmakers who said President Dwight D. Eisenhower was “disconnected from the mainstream of America” when he ordered the 101st Airborne Division to go down to Little Rock, Ark., to make sure some black kids could go to school with white kids.

Pulleaase. This is not about oppression or slavery. President Obama is no Lincoln or Eisenhower – he is a community organizer and one term senator (based on a fluke). Saint Roger is trying to wrap is cowardliness and his inexperienced president inside purity of motive. But the fact is no one is stopping Muslims from praying or exercising their rights. Like all the rest of us there are limits, lines you do not cross that are perfectly constitutional limits. What about prayers in schools? If the left is for restricting that, we can surely move a mosque a block or two. But Simon claims it would be better to not stand up for what is right, it is better to hold onto power!

If this is a just and noble cause, why is Saint Roger crying out to squelch it in the name of holding onto political power:

But what’s so wrong about being off message if you are right about the issue?

This: An unidentified chief of staff to a “politically vulnerable House Democrat” told James Hohmann and Maggie Haberman of POLITICO that Obama’s statement “probably alienates a lot of independent voters” and “there are a lot of [Democrats] who are spooked in tough districts today” and “a lot of Republicans licking their chops right now.”

And what’s the point of doing the right thing if your party is going to lose seats because of it?

This is the difference between President Bush and his war on terror and these liberal narcissists. Bush took the political hit to do what is right and never hid were he stood. Saint Roger prefers leaders who lie to the people and hide their true intentions. This kind of thinking is why the vast political industrial complex needs to be dismantled and buried for all time. This narcism is why Democrats are in trouble, not because they are god-sent paragons of virtue.

Hello, media, Are there not already 110 mosques in New York city now?

It has not been just once that this president has displayed himself as an idealogue…and his sadistic behavior toward those who are not as cold as he is, claiming he is “above it all”.

And possibly (un)related, I see that this administration has decided today that they are NOT going to lift the drilling ban in the Gulf after saying for days that they were considering it. Tit for tat, imho.

These people are beyond dangerous. What’s interesting is that all the world is getting a gigantic view of their tactics…like throwing out the bigotry card or race card or purity card when they are actually the ones with lethal dysfunctions not to mention character disorders being acted out on the world stage. Time to dust off the great article by Joan Swirsky, The Pathology of Liberalism.

And AJ, did you see the new eating disorder which cites those who have to eat only “pure” food. I kid you not. It’s called orthorexia nervosa, an obsession with dietary purity….all part of the same mindset, imho, LOL.

His schtick includes claiming that building this mosque has the same moral imperative as ending slavery – idiotic.

Since he brought up Bobby Kennedy, I’d love to see St. Simon falling all over himself to defend my constitutional rights if I decided to buy a piece of property in Hyannisport, Ma., and erect a large statue of Sirhan Sirhan smiling and shaking hands with Lee Harvey Oswald. If it was my property, that’s my constitutional right, isn’t it? Would he help defend me from the outcry?

Of course he wouldn’t. But I think there’s a greater meaning to his story, and I can see it in a lot of left wing journolistas suddenly. They now know they are going to be demolished in the coming election, and it’s so bad that they are now preemptively trying to establish a narrative for the loss. They’ve given up, and they are only focused now on trying to apportion the blame. Of COURSE it won’t be Obama’s fault, and of COURSE it can’t be liberalism’s fault! So it must be the fault of the knuckle dragging, bitter, racist, anti-intellectual and hopelessly unenlightened American Public.

Obama is just too Good for Us. And that’s the message they’re now going to carry in to the elections.

And this is how liberalism dies. Not with a bang, but with a self-glorifying, arrogant, contemptuous, pathetic whimper.

“Dear Reader”, the Lyin Pinnochio, “Cousin Eddie” like Resident of the Peoples House stepped all over himself in LA last night Tying up traffic for 3 hours or more so he could eat steak at a 30,000 dollar a plate fundraiser.
    30,000 x 33 = 990,000.
So for 35 or so people Pinnochio cost untold thousands three hours of their night, had kids stuck in daycare at over time rates, moms and dads stuck in traffic, sick folks missing doctors appointments and cost the city tens of millions.
Drudge has this. Obama should be run from offfice with the taxpayers hot on his heals with tar and feathers pitchforks and torches.
Let them swelter while I eat steak.
    Post the story AJ?

    DH,

Been considering it – don’t want to put too many up at one time and the bad news is rolling out in waves these days.

I agree with you – Obama may have picked up a million bucks, but he probably cost the Dems the governor seat and a senate seat.

I work on Wilshire Blvd. so the POTUS passed right under my nose around 4 PDT. They blocked Wilshire starting around 3 PDT and caused the mother of all traffic jams during the evening rush hour.

Speaking about bad news rolling in non-stop, I don’t think we have ever seen so many bad news rolling in when Bush was in the office.

This is really creating chaos inside the liberal community as they appear to be struggling with these news and unable to justify any of it.
