OMG, Palin Is Historic!

Reader BrownGreenGold found a great pic of the event:

I cannot believe the numbers regarding a Palin event in Florida – they are just staggering:

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin told wildly cheering, flag-waving, chanting supporters that John McCain is “the only great man in this race” and promised Sunday he will fix the nation’s economy if voters give the GOP four more years in the White House.

“Sa-Rah! Sa-Rah!” they chanted at every mention of her name, applauding loudly and waiving tiny American flags that were distributed — along with free water bottles — by local volunteers. The fire chief estimated the crowd at 60,000.

That is an amazing number – but not surprising given the fact McCain-Palin drew 23,000 on a weekday morning in Northern VA right after the convention. But these kinds of numbers at a political rally are stunning. No wonder Obama and the liberal left are in a panic.

Update: More here from a local newspaper. Funny, there are no news media pictures of this historic crowd. The best one I can find is this one, which doesn’t show the true size of the crowd. Is the media scared they cannot even do a modicum of honest reporting?

It is telling that that before the event was hardly even over the lib leaning newspapers here like the St Times had ‘another fire marshal present’ who estimated 25k.

Now even if that is their lowball number and you split the difference you know Obama has issues here the polls simply are not talking about.

He did terrible here in the primary and yet if you believe some of the polls it is a tie race….I don’t see it like that.

Look at the CNN map of which counties he won during the primary.

7 along the northern border of the state in largely black bible belt rural counties. Think pulp wood harvest operations.

The one urban county was Duval/Jacsksonville which is a Navy town with Mayport and NAS Jax and until it closed was the home of Cecil Field where McCain commanded a fighter squadron (the largest in the USA) after being released from VietNam.

It is important to note that the Ocala/Villages area is modest in size due in part to the fact that the population is kept down with a large portion of the surrounding area being fairly much closed off to population due to the presence of Ocala National Forest.

So a good bit of this draw was from nearby and surrounding communities.

I know people personally who were attending from St Petersburg and Gainesville and even one couple as far away as Destin that were there today.

I saw a couple more in my reading yesterday and when I locate them I’ll post them too.
